I would have the Power Supply board and the Ballast replaced. Samsung recommends replacing both these items together. You can call 1-800-samsung to find the nearest authorized service center.

How long do bulbs generally last?

Generally, a DLP bulb lasts about 8,000 hours (if a TV is on 10 hours a day, every day, the bulb will last about two years). A bulb can last longer if it's used less frequently. Typically, a bulb in a DLP TV for household use should last at least three to four years before it starts to flicker and needs to be replaced.

Thanks!

SAMSUNG DLP SLIM 50" AFTER I TURN IT OFF IT WONT TURN BACK ON TILL 30 TO 50 MINS LATER THE THREE LIGHTS IN THE FRONT BLINK. iT ACTS LIKE ITS GONA TURN ON BUT IT DOESNT IT JUST MAKES THE NOISE AND FLASHING...

Chris,

I had the same problem. I bought my tv at Best Buy and my warranty included a new bulb for the lamp. They only last about 2 yrs or so depending on how much you watch the tv. You can also buy replacement bulbs online that don't cost too much. BUT, you will need to replace every couple of years. The things you listed are exactly what happens when the bulb goes out. Hope this helps!

Had one last week and now there are 6. they are

Hi,

You get white spots inside the samsung DLP tv due to bad Digital Micromiror Device , or bad DMD board .

What is actually the problem is the DMV chip connected to this board . Inside this chip are 3 million tiny mirrors ,and when they physically get stuck , they either show black or white instead of a color
This is well know problem with SAMSUNG DLP...

The DMD chip is failing. If not under warranty expect to pay a few hundred to several hundred to get it fixed

The mirrors on the DLP chip are slowly sticking either fully open (white) or fully closed (black). The part that contains the DLP chip is the Light Engine. It is the most expensive part of the TV.Only the Samsung TVs has this issue.

Replacing the DLP chip and the micro mirror would solve this issue...

Pleaserate this solution,

Worked a charm on my 50" Samsung DLP. Read thread carefully as there are 2 different version of the DMD chip you will need to replace. I ended up fixing mine for less than $165!
