Kenmore Washer fills and then stops... Model 110-26742503 Series 70

My machine fills but does not do anything else. I read your posting about blowing into the pressure switch. I took off the tube initially to make sure I could get it off and then put it back on to fill the tub. The machine filled and then began to work without me ever blowing into the switch. Could there have been some type of vacuum seal or back pressure in the switch. I have run a load through and the machine seems to work fine now.

Mark , sometimes where the tube goes into the tub, debris such as lint clogs the tube. This can cause this problem. Sometimes the pressure switch itself will hang. Glad to hear you have it going again. Catriver.

Kenmore 70 series model# 22702 will not spin

Kenmore model 70 washing machine fills with water, doesn't agitate, spin or anything else. Could it be the closed lid sensor? Friend says it broke in two. I told them to unplug power, pig-tail two wires together to complete circuit isolate from all metal and plug power back in, and see if it cycles. Is that advice a good start? Will try to re-post if he calls back and says if it worked or not and we'll go from there. Thanks for replies.

Hello, Have a Kenmore series 70 (capcity plus).

Note after reading a bunch of information. I went home and removed the hose from the Level Switch and "clean it", if you will and re-attached. Started a load, and bingo bango bongo, it work. Thanks for the insight.

Kenmore series 70 washer will only fill with water.

I recently had this problem. It was found that the main drive belt broke and the washer would fill but not spin, agitate or drain. I replaced the belt and everything worked again. A defective or disconnected cover switch would also cause the same problem.

Kenmore Washing Machine 70 series

You most likely have a broken coupler between the motor and gearcase.
You can buy the part for about $10 or have someone come out and replace it for about $150-200.
If you will post the complete model number from the the washer so I can see which style cabinet you have, I will try to walk you through the repair. It isn't very complicated if you are handy with home repairs.
With the age of the machine it probably just needs a coupler, but it could also have a problem in the transmission or basket drive that has caused the failure.
