Uh-huh... Ivy Joseph,
Well ...
unless your cat is missing that characterization is going to need some EXPANSION... clarification... definition.
..
The door is open/closed has no impact on "
howling"...??
The unit is OTHERWISE WORKING... (????)
or some issues have accumulated to attract your
attention.
Your
diagram shows a pretty standard side x side configuration...
a "WORKING" refrigerator won't be howling. An iced up refrigerator can encase the
EVAPORATOR FAN... and the howling will be that fan shaft spinning in a FROZEN FAN.
The noise should stop on OPENING the door...
Iced up... can come from several sources
- huge air intrusion
- Defrost circuit failure
Go to the location below to get an idea of how our machine fits together...
The part depicted is the second LEAST LIKELY
failure point (defrost thermostat)... First least likely
is the defrost heater element...
Most likely... DEFROST TIMER (or PCB)
Hope this helps... comment me back with progress questions (I'm usually here daily)

I have the same problem - it's coming from the freezer side. If I turn the freezer off, the howling stops. Anyone have any idea how to fix?
