SOURCE: notebook will not read restore cd

Hmm...try taking the hard drive away from ur laptop and use a ''hard drive caddy'' to connect it via usb to another pc.Then format it and try to recover again. It might also be a bios error wich i don't think you can replace on a laptop motherboard. Also try contacting toshiba for a replace or refund if in warranty.

When dealing with this error (10-FC06-000D) message in Toshiba unit is very comment in the L300 series, I don’t know if Toshiba is using cheaper hard drives or what but I see a lot of them with the same problem. If you have a Toshiba unit got to their website to check if your unit is still under manufacture warranty if it is you have some options send it to Toshiba direct they should cover the shipping but I’m not to sure, or take it in to any Best Buy or Future shop stores with your proof of purchase and they will send it out for you. This is a hardware problem that is related to the hard drive, I wiped the hard drive and all it’s boot records still unable to reinstall the OS OK, I finally decided to use a test hard drive to reinstall the OS worked fine so there is something wrong with the hard drive that most likely would need to be replaced

SOURCE: System Recovery Media error 10-FA11-045D

This error comes up if the toshiba recovery cannot recognise the file system and partitions. try removing all partitions using the fdisk utility or a windows XP CD and then run the recovery.

SOURCE: I want to restore my Satellite Pro L310

Hi herteg63,

It seems as though your recovery partition on your laptop has been deleted/corrupted. You can order replacement DVDs to restore your laptop with all of the acer software. Here is the link to the site:

https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx

It is also possible to install windows manually with the CD key on the sticker on the bottom of the laptop, if you happen to have Windows OEM CD with the correct service pack. You would need to download and install all of the drivers from the Toshiba website.

You could also bring it to a local PC shop and see if they could do that for you.

In the end ordering the CDs may be the easiest way.

I hope this helps,
Adam.

Try rebuffing the disk, Staples sells these CD/DVD salvaging devices. they are less than $20. Otherwise try installing the Windows OS from a bootable CD and loading the drivers manually if the disk you have is bad.

What is the command prompt in the HP Pavilion a6037c Vista recovery partition that allow me to type the command to recover to the factory settings.

You can access the HP Recovery Manager software using the "F11" command during the boot-up process. The Recovery Manager is a preinstalled utility that can help you resolve issues on your computer system that affect its proper function, such as viruses, system errors or hardware corruption. Restore your computer only as a last resort, since all the files stored on the hard drive will be lost during the process. The restore process can also be helpful in wiping the computer clean before passing it along to another user.

Restart the computer. Press the "F11" key when the "BIOS" messages appear during the start-up process to open the "HP Recovery Manager." This step must be completed before Windows has a chance to load. Click "System Recovery" and click the "Next" button. Click "No" in the Microsoft Restore window that appears and click "Next." Click "Next" in the "System Recovery" window to initiate the restore process. The hard drives will be reformatted and the computer's software returned to the factory settings. Click "Finish" to restart the computer with the original operating condition in place.

My daughters computer would not really work except in safe mode. She has a Toshiba Satellite laptop (L450 series). I didn't have any restore disks so I went through the Toshiba Recovery Wizard to...

You very likely have a failing hard drive. Since the recovery system is also located on the same drive, you will have to obtain a new drive from toshiba with the recovery system on it or obtain a complete recovery set of dvd's. Since the system is not under warranty, then you could probably save some money by obtaining a suitable replacement (larger) hard drive from a reputable online source (like newegg.com) and then reinstall everything from the recovery set of DVD's you get from Toshiba. Recovery set should only cost about $30 or less. A new drive will run about $50 and up. The drive is actually pretty simple to replace. Since you will be replacing the drive, you should try and copy the important files (pics, music, etc) to a portable drive (hard drive, usb flash drive, etc.)

Here is a link to see what is involved in accessing your hard drive:

I recieved error 10-FA12-045D after trying to restore factory state on my toshiba satellite C655 laptop

Error codes starting with 10 on Toshiba laptops point to a hard drive failure. The drive is most likely dead and cannot be revived. You will need to replace the drive and then reinstall the operating system.

*for this error 10-FC12-045D u nid to call 1-800-457-7777 toshiba advance technical support they will send it to depot or they will recommend ASP (Authorized Service Partner)

I suppose your recovery disks could be bad. You can get another set from Toshiba. I'm also concerned about the health of the hard drive. Did you need to run recovery because the system crashed, because it may not have been an operating sysem crash but rather a hard drive crash. Have the harddrive or whole laptop checked by a reoutable repair person or check my website: www.micromendllc.com

Toshiba Satellite L305-S5875; Recovery Error 10-fc12-045d HELP!!

no it is not fried. you just need to find a vista disk and use that instead of the recovery disks. Once you reinstall Vista you should be able to go online for the Toshiba drivers. Make sure you have the windows Vista Key which should be located under the laptop. the vista software install will ask for it.
