Danby DDR6009RRE dehumidifier bucket switch operation question.

I just (6/26/2010) purchased a Danby DDR6009RRE dehumidifier, installed it and started using it (6/27/2010). I removed the bucket and it took 30 seconds or so to shut the dehumidifier off after it was removed. Is this normal?? Also I shut the dehumidifier off and removed the bucket. I waited a minute or so and restarted the dehumidifier and it started up, it did shut down very quickly however (keeping in mind that the dehumidifier was off for a minute or so with the bucket off).. Otherwise it appears to be a good machine. Thanks.

Danby Dehumidifier DDR7009REE leaking water, bucket not full

Hi there,
The unit may need cleaning. You can contact Danby customer service (1-800-263-2629) to get in contact with a technician.
There may be something clogging the passage to the bucket and the water is finding the path of least resistance.
As well, it is important to remember to clean the filter once a month.

How do I switch from continuous drain to draining into the bucket? I have a Danby Pro dehumidifier. Thanks Tyler

Disconnect the hose and reattach the hose connection drain cap, that was removed when the hose was attached. The water will then be diverted into the water collection bucket

Hope this helped you, Tyler and thanks for choosing FixYa.

We have Danby Model DDR557HE-7 and cannot locate our Manual. We need to disconnect hose and have excess water go to bucket. How is this done?? If we had copy of Manual we wld be able to search same...

All Danby dehumidifiers, regardless of the model number operate the same way.
The link below to a 50 pint model should provide all the info you need.

http://www.danby.ca/cms/uploads/products/en_manual/DDR5009%2C_6009%2C_7009REE_EFOM.pdf

However, I think you'll find that draining into a bucket is not an option. As the hose drain relies entirely on gravity to drain. So, it will not drain down and then up into a bucket. The hose drainage method, is designed to drain into a floor drain or a sump.

Hope this helps you.

The dehuidifier has started leaking water out of the bottom of the unit. Water bucket is correctly installed.

Hi,
This is usually caused because of dirt buildup where the water runs out into the bucket...
Find the little tube or spout that runs the water into the bucket... then use a small toothpick or canned air to clean it out and get the water flowing out of it again...

Hi my Danby DDR4588EE Dehumidifier's buttons aren't working

Hi! I'm assuming that the unit is plugged in and the outlet the unit is plugged into is working (if not, is there a tripped circuit breaker, in your home's circuit breaker panel?). Also, that you have turned ON The Master ON/OFF Switch and the Water Collection Bucket is installed properly and the Float Valve inside the bucket is in the Down position

If you answered NO to any of the above, turn the the Master ON/OFF Switch to OFF and unplug the unit, before checking those things first. Because, 9 times out of 10, one of thee above is the culprit.

Hope this helps you troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please let me know. Thanks.

P1 error

Your question needs to be answered in 3 parts:

1) As per the manual for my Danby Dehumidifier (Model DDR657EE), the unit may not turn on immediately when powered On (it may take a several minutes). So, generally, it would be normal in your case.

2) Danby's Consumer Help Line (1-800-263-2629) is always busy. So, I called their General number: 419-425-8627. The receptionist transferred my call to their Service dept. My call was answered in 2 minutes.

The Service Rep. described the following code for my dehumidifier model (DDR657EE):
P1 = Defrosting: the unit will go into Defrost mode periodically to ensure that the parts are working at the right operating temperature. It should be in Defrost (P1) mode for only a brief period of time. If the unit is in Defrost (P1) mode continuously for a couple of hours (or more), then you should call Danby Service for further assistance.

He had no documentation of a P2 code for my model.

He also described other General Codes (applicable to most Dehumidifier/Humidifier models):
E1 = Not enough water
E2 = Not draining
E3 = Water temperature too cool
E4 = Overflow Switch activated
E6 / E7 = Problem with Temperature Sensor

So, generally, if you see P1 periodically (for brief periods), then it would be normal.

3) Since your unit keeps running (continuously) and there is no water in the bucket, then you should call Danby ServiceI for additional assistance - it seems defective for this reason.

I hope that helps.
