Hi
i am a dell certified technician
when ever you download the drivers do remember to install them in a sequence
1. chipset
2. audio
3. video
4. network
If you have the dimension 4600 , you can find all the drivers on the website support.dell.com, its very simple , easy and free to download
Well dont understand why would you need a motherboard installer but...Sounds like you need the drivers for those devices installed (Audio, Video and Lan) Usually that comes with your Pc on a cd..if you dont have the cd, you can go to Driveragent.com or some other websight that scans your machine and can give you the drivers missing at a cost (I believe Driver agent is 30 dollars for a year. )
Well I have a Dell Demension 4600 also but dont know if the Specs are exactly the same and I am Constantly Reformating my PC and reinstalling the drivers from Drivers I downloaded from DriverAgent.com and saved to CD so when ever I Reformat I use those CD's. I also have those Yellow Q's in Device Manager on my Network (Lan), Sound and Video then I just Pop in the CD and install drivers and all Done. Tell me what Video Graphics you have and Network Card and Sound?
Its seems like everyone is giving the same advice ...you need the drivers installed and also telling you your options now its up to you to apply the advice we gave you. Go to Dell and look up your system and find drivers or Pay www.driveragent.com $30.00 and scan your system for missing drivers then download...(after reading the websites Faq's of course.)

well..thats my problem i dont have the cd..cause all those devices are built in all of them..and my friend told me that in order to get those devices working i need the motherboard installer or software.. oh please help me guys. im really having a hard time..
actually mines is dell optiplex 745..and the mother board is dell 0rf703..
I have same problem with a Dell Dimension 360 wonderful machine but only have windows disc and not original hard drive. Do have drivers on another CD downloaded from Dell. What everyone is missing is that if you don't have the video driver you can't very well see any video. Sounds obvious, Windows just stops loading and says bad driver. It is the original card but like all machines there are drivers for board and or cards that are not recognized by the Windows XP Pro SP2 disc. It doesn't have every driver for everything. Short of a stapler I can not get this driver on the hard drive. Sounds like a couple others have same issue
I'm having the same problem....I inherited a dell 8250 and formatted it.....ooops....so I put the chipset download with all the downloads on the dell site.....nothing....I have a default for the monitor ONLY...no sound, no choices for network adapters, no recognition from a cd-rom to pull drivers from for a modem to get it off the net....I'm truly stuck because the motherboard does not recognize anything and like I said none of the dell downloads worked.....help me please before I have to buy a LARGE trash can.....
With regard to maks_Ali's post, it should ask you for your service tag which will show you all the driver downloads you need for your specific [customized] computer. I would recommend going through this with a Dell support "technician". Though they can be a pain in the **** sometimes, some of the drivers need to be installed in a certain order to work right and they know that order.
