Samsung HL56A650 DLP Rear Projector HDTV? I have a technical problem with my TV, the problem is that it wont turn on lamp light keeps on flicking, had the same problem few months ago but i replace the lamp my self because my warranty expired, it worked fine for like a month than the same thing happened. I am hearing hissing sound and see sparks from the back (thinking Ballast trying to turn the lamp but it cant ). Right before i installed the lamp the first time i did make sure than their is no dust in any vents or other places were would cause the lamp to die quicker, but i guess that didn't work. So my question is should i focus my attention on the lamp again or do i got to see if its the ballast?

No. This is a DLP TV. It gets it's color by a color wheel. If color seems to drift across screen or there is a loud-ish whining noise from back of TV that you can here clear across a room, then this color wheel may be bad. They wear out.
Tv "LAMP" LED light indication is blinking or lite up?The tv projection lamp insisde this tv now like 1 1/2 or 2 years already?Tv on and used daily like 4 or 5 hours everydays?Yes.The tv projection lamp life are over. The tv require a new tv projection lamp.Still have problems after this the tv board that call the Ballast board it is dead too, must require changing too.The Ballast board only job are to help to fire up the tv projection lamp and keep it lit.
The description sounds like a protection mode has been activated and the smoke obviously confirms this. Sounds like it will need to be inspected by a service technician and could get expensive
Check ballast supply board that drives lamp and is attached directly with lamp, ballast supply board can cause of this problem, would be cause of smoke while tv shows picture for moment.
Hi, you have one of two problems, either the color wheel is going or one of the cooling fans are going, the color wheels are a very common problem in samsung dlp`s, sorry I can`t nail it to a specific part but I`d bet it`s the color wheel as they are notorious for failing in samsungs, video-tek
you have the same problem I have. The problem is fixed by changing the new light bulb. The problem appears again after 1500 hours of use. You can keep buying new light bulbs or avoid it by not buying another Samsung TV.
