Foodsaver 1050 - the metal strip under the tape is broken, and therefore does not seal anymore. Do you know of any place online or store that sells this, and what size I would need? Thanks, Grace

    Thanks for the link, but I don't see the metal strip for the sealer on there, just the rubber piece on the top part of the food saver. I'm looking for the metal strip that sits under the tape on the bottom section of the machine. Thanks again.

    I have one of those too, I did look around the website after I found the link but the heating strip so I poked around the web and couldn't find it which stinks. I have to buy another one if I want to vacuum seal food as mine needs a new cutter and gaskets but I am unable to locate some of the other parts I need. Sorry is wasn't more help.

Replacing the LED strips on my Vizio TV and the reflective shield got a couple of tears in it while removing. How can I repair without replacing?
Are you talking about the metalized tape that they put on? If so its not a huge deal, its there as a RFI shield, just try to smooth it down the best you can and if it wont stick just use a little tape over the top of it to hold it down. Another thing i use a lot to fix the shielding tape is the aluminum heating duct seam tape, its not duct tape, its an actual metal aluminum tape with adhesive on it for sealing up heating ducts. Most home repair stores sell it as premium aluminum duct sealing tape.

Need to replace the heat stripe tape on my tilla foodsaver vaccum sealer
concerning my food sealer: the strip under the heating wire came loose & would not stay in place. i almost threw the unit away but its at least $40 to buy another. i decided to buy a roll of PTFE Coated Fiberglass Fabric With Silicone Adhesive Tape. PTFE is Teflon but u cant use Teflon as a search term because of the copyright. i found a roll on ebay for $3 (free ship) from China (how do they do that!). it took about 2 weeks for the roll to arrive. I cut a strip to fit under the wire. The wire had burned & partially buried itself in the unprotected plastic. Be gentle when nudging it out & clean off any material that has attached itself to the wire. Seals & works like new!
would you like to buy the rest of the roll? the roll has about 28 feet left.

Vacum works heatseal does not seal can i replace seal
Sealing always tends to be the problem with FoodSaver because during the course of normal wear and tear, the sealing strip and wire will naturally need to be replaced.

We started out selling just replacement parts for heat impulse sealers but we kept on getting customer requests for FoodSaver parts so we've added that section to our website.

My food saverf V 835 just stopped sealing. I haven't used it that much, and it worked fine last time I used it.
I just spoke to customer service. I was told there is no replacement part for the heating element. They did offer me a discount on a new Foodsaver.

My Foodsaver Vac 1050 doesn't extract all of the air from the bag
Either the sealing strips are dirty letting air escape or the lips of the bag are turned upwards. Push the front of the bag down towards the bottm chanel and it should work fine. I have had one for eight years now and love it.Ken Vancouver BC

Foodsaver compact vac 550 sealing strip doesn't seal
My machine stopped working because the sealing ribbon was broken and the tape was worn. FoodSaver no longer does repairs. I knew the wire was called nichcome ribbon so I searched that. I checked the resistance of the ribbon on my machine, it was about 3.8 ohms. I found a site called mpakonline.com and from their site I bought 1/16 x .005 nichrome ribbon and 3/8 x 5 MIL. x 18 YD Acrylic Teflon Tape. The total cost of these items was about $36.00, the ohm value of their ribbon was 1.66 somewhat less.I used ends from radio shack made the repair and it has been working fine for the last two months and I have enough material leftover for about ten more repairs.
