Probably just a bad lamp. Look up the LED status codes for your particular model. Five flashes will indicate a particular problem, and usually it's the bulb.

Hello; Sony has a built in diagnostic that is only a Ball Park pointer of the reason for failure. I dumped Sony back in 2002 for their poor treatment of us service centers. The flashes are NOT for use by owners/users. Something in the set needs replacing, removing shorts or bad connections, the later more unlikely. Some of the flashes mean over voltage or current protection or vertical output stage failure etc. These sets are crappy to work on and Sony doesn't even talk to us on the phone. I think buying anything with Sony's name on it is VERY likely a waste of your money. John

Or on remote in this order press "display -5- vol down - pwr ." and then you could watch it right now ..kinda
The TV can be fixed as long as the parts needed are still available from Sony. However, as far as trying to determine what part(s) are needed, I wouldn't listen to anyone other than a tech who's actually taken a look at the set or has worked on one with the exact same problem. If you make a call to a local repair shop, especially one that advertises repairing Sony, a nice guy will at least give you a ball park figure as to what the repair will cost you.

Take it to an authorised repair agent. Sonys can be very complicated for both amateur and professional alike. I have spent hours on some of them.Most probably a failed voltage regulator though very common for Sonys and expensive.
When a Sony TV flashes five times, that means that there is an AKB circuit fault.
This means that there is something wrong with the video.
Try first unplugging power for few hours, if that does not work, call a
technician, as several IC and components must be tested and eventually
replaced.
Sony KP53HS10 5 blinks Five blinks means "Video out abnormality detection". Possible problem areas are as follows:
Video out, IC7101, 7201, 7301 and others in C board circuit.
Q510, 516, 524 (A board).
There are actually three C boards, the CR, CG and CB boards. They are attached to the rear of the red, green and blue CRTs, respectively. I wouldnt attempt to repair the set myself. I would solicite the services of an authorized Sony servicenter.
tuner needs replaced or taken apart and cross your fingers soldering joints, use silver solder look hard with magifiers for solder cracks or bad joints and grounds inside tuner.
