Odor eminating from freezer

Our Hairer refrigerator, purchased new, is only 2 months old and a couple of days ago a bad order (like something's rotten) coming from the blower in the freezer. The odor also seeps into the refrigerator part and every time the door is open, it smells up our house. There is and there was not any rotten food in the refrigeator or freezer. We cleaned both the freezer and refrigerator out 3 times and the odor is still there.

We are moving to a new home in 2 weeks and would like to have this problem dealt with ASAP. Thank you,

SOURCE: Refrig door gasket does not prevent gap when door is closed

Lift up the gasket and look for screws securing the gasket to the door.
Loosen all of these screws a few turns and twist the door in the direction needed to seal.
Hold the door in this position as you tighten the screws.
This can be tricky and sometimes requires multiple efforts.

SOURCE: freezer not getting cold. Refrig only 7 months

Make sure it's not against the wall. Away from any corner or wall. It needs space to breath in the back. The Condenser always needs to breath. Constant venting. It maybe also that it has a leak somewhere.

SOURCE: I have a 2 year

As for the fridge, the same solution but for more details. If refrigerator is not cooling properly can be due to a defrost timer, which is causing the fridge to go into defrost cycle. Usually it takes 45-60 minutes for refrigerator to come out of defrost cycle. If the timer goes bad then it will not come out of defrost cycle and can result in this kind of issues. It can also occur due to defrost thermostat, it allows current to pass through it at temperatures of 20 to 30 degrees Fahrenheit and prevents current from passing through it at 40 to 60 degrees. This is difficult to test, though, because it takes a prolonged, very-cold temperature to turn it on. The defrost thermostat is snapped onto the top portion of the evaporator. The thermostat sends temperature information to the processor. The defrost heater must be replaced when replacing the thermostat.

1. Remove the lower fan duct work from the evaporator cover.
2. Remove the 1/4-in. evaporator cover screws and remove the evaporator cover.
3. Disconnect the defrost thermostat wiring connector.
4. Remove the defrost thermostat from the evaporator.

Yes it is worth repairing. This is a common problem with refrigerator.

I hope the above helps.......

Good luck.

Freon leak in refrigerator?

no refrigerant leaks have little to no odor and if it was leaking bad enough to smell it the unit would be out of refrigerant and not cooling...the problem sounds like gases coming off of a veggie of something un-covered inside the fridge--have you put any veggies in the fridge or freezer un-covered check real good if one or a piece of something has fallen behind something else where you cannot see...all else fails remove all your products from the unit and clean and get a box of odor control arm&hammer to rid the smell..as for a leak in the sealed system i think your just fine.

Ice smells like mildew! We purchased the refrigerator/freezer new 6 months ago. It does not seem to be a problem caused by other foods in the freezer. Model number: FFTR2126LW

Mildew smell in your ice is caused by one of three things. 1. Old, dirty, clogged water filter 2. Bad water quality from your house water supply 3. Ice that has not been used and sits in the bucket for time can become stale tasting.

I have an oder in my fridge and freezer. no spoilage in there. both the fridge and freezer has an odor and gets into all the food. cleaned it out, shut it off for a day and still i have it. would would...

ok.its a very common issue.just tie a handful of baking soda in a soft cloth and keep such1 or 2 pads in both the freezer and fridge section.this will absorb all the bad odor within a day or two.once the odor is gone throw the pas away.repeat this once in three months to prevent the bad odor from coming again.

This will help. Thanks please keep updated.please do rate the solution positively .thank you for using fixya

I can smell items in my freezer when I open the door of the fridg

Good day,
All cooling in a refrigerator, be it the freezer section, or the fresh food section is performed by the freezer.
The freezer takes care of itself, but also by the function of the fan motor in the freezer, blows a limited amount of the freezer air into the fresh food compartment to cool it to the nominal 37 degrees.

The odor in the freezer is disguised by the extremely cold air, and is not apparent. But that odor when raised to 35 or 40 degrees will become noticeable.
As well, the freezer compartment rises to 30 degrees plus when going thru it's automatic defrost cycle, which occures for approx. 30 minutes once or twice a day, adding to the problem.
Sealing the packages is probably the only real answer.

My 2 month old Amana Refridgerator with Freezer on

If your sure about spoiled food. Spoiled lemons are one of the worst, and the machine has not been abused, it's a problem of the selling dealer. Fan motors have been known to create an odor when their windings start to burn. Plastic items that become detached from the interior cabinet and wind up laying on the defrost heater which gets very hot during defrost is another, however, I would demand a service call (free) since everything on it is under warranty. Make sure it's creating the odor when the tech shows up.

My new Whirlpool Refrigerator the water and ice still stink

We have the same problem. Started 2 weeks after purchase. (6 months ago). Tech. replaced fliter, worked for another 2 weeks, then water & ice awful again. Tried to live w/ it - ordered another filter a week ago. Replaced & within 24 hrs. problem was back. Called Whirlpool. Said tech who came to my househad written in his report that tap water & fridge water tasted the same. A lie - he agreed w/ me that the water from fridge was bad, & replaced filter which had a musty odor. Whirlpool basically called me a liar but agreed to send another tech to check it out. I will never buy another Whirlpool product & plan to tak this problem as far as I need to in order to get satisfaction. This is ridiculous!
