Our whirlpool accubake oven turns on the broiler when we press the bake button. We saw the work-around solution on your site----very helpful---but, what part needs to be replaced to fix the problem?
Hi All,
I tired the delayed bake work around and it didn't help me.
So, being a trained scientist... I know just enough to be dangerous! Here's what I learned. (imitate me at your own risk. This thing is on a 220V circuit at 30A... you or someone else in your house could get badly killed if you do something wrong. You definitely want to send small children to the movies, or at least to bed before trying this!)
First, I turned the self-clean on for 60 seconds to see if both elemets were working. The broiler got bright red but the bake element didn't. The door unlocked as soon as I shut it off, so I could I touched an ice cube to a few insided parts to see how hot they were. The bottom of the oven was barely warm, but the baking element instantly melted and sizzled my ice cube.
Good enough for me: Both heating elements are working, so it must be a controller problem.
Next I turned the power off at circuit breaker, and double checked that the oven was dead. I pulled it out of the wall and removed the top sheet metal cover. Inside I found a red plastic envelope containing a "Tech Sheet". It has a schematic diagram, plus a table that explains the error codes and what to do about them. Be sure to read all the dire warnings and the bit about "For Service Technician's use only" before deciding that you are foolish enough to do anything with it. :-)
I undid and inspected the connector for the printed ribbon cable from the keypad to the controler circuit board. (I happen to know, being a scientist, that 90% of all problems in the universe are caused by bad contact) I didn't see anything obviously wrong, so I reassebled it carefully, making sure the ribbon was fully seated.
I then powered the thing up. It said PF for power failure. I pressed cancel for 5 seconds and it said F0E0 which means no pre-existing fault was detected.
I then pressed bake, and lo and behold the damn thing baked! :-)
I'm not certain it was bad contact, since the other 90% of the world's problems are caused by software. It's entirely possible that power cycling was this thing's idea of CTRL-ALT-DEL. Maybe someone can try flipping the breaker off for 10 minutes without taking anything apart, to see if that clears the problem?
I also have no idea how long this will stay fixed....
Has anyone tried calling Whirlpool? 1-866-698-2538, M-F, 8 am - 8 pm Local Market Time, Sat. 8:30 am - 5 pm Local Market Time, according to their website.
Stay tuned... if I'm not back, the thing is still baking... :-)
I had the same problem and followed the process listed above....yes, I
did unplug/turn off the circuit and am alive to share this update!
Right off I noticed that the ribbon cable was loose. For those who have
tinkered around with other electronics such as a PC, etc., note that
this ribbon cable is not secured by the connector (atleast in my case).
Reseated the cable and turned the power on. Voila- the bake option
works. Tested it by turning it on for 20-30 seconds. Touched the bake
element and got proof that it was working fine (via a singe of the ring
finger ;-)).
About three minutes or so later, the display started to beep with an
error code - E0 F2. A shorted keypad is what it stands for. The clock
was still operable. I could still select the bake option, broil option,
etc. Ran a test bake cycle but it turned off after a minute or so and
started to display the E0 F2 code again.
Started the process all over ie turn power off, take panel off, reseat
ribbon cable. Turn power on and test by holding the Cancel button for
five seconds. Still displays the E0 F2 error. Waited for 10 minutes but
this time no more beeping or error display. Ran a preheat cycle for 4+
minutes without any problems. The oven warms up and the bake element
glows red. Hopefully, all is well. Will see what it does when we bake
something the next time.
Thanks to PropHeadTwo and others for their contributions.
A few days ago, the oven control board light was out. Some buttons made beeps when pressed, but no number or lights on the control panel display.Today it was on with the 'Loc' with a lock symbol on the display.Under the Start button, there was a small lock symbol followed by 5 sec.So, I pressed the Start button for more than 5 seconds and the 'Loc' display disappeared with a short beep. It was an easy fix. But, still have no clue why the display panel had not shown anything in the first place. Hope this helps some of you.
DOES THE BAKE BURNER COME ALSO?
SOME RANGES USE BOTH THE BAKE AND BROIL ELEMENTS OR BURNERS TO PREHEAT AND THEN DROP OUT THE BROILER AFTER THE PREHEAT TEMP IS REACHED. IS THERE A PROBLEM WITH THE BAKING RESULTS? IF THE CONTROL HAS BEEN SERVICED, DID SOMEONE SWITCH THE BAKE AND BROIL WIRING ON THE CONTROL?

Usually answered in minutes!
The oven shows "locked" on the display and the oven will not work now.
I cannot turn the lock off.
Broiler comes on when bake button is pressed.
My oven was on and then it beeped, locked and flashed E03, I could not turn the oven off so I had to turn the breaker off. When I turned the breaker back on the oven unlocked but the broiler came on without turning the oven on.
