The washing machine spins counterclockwise stops, makes alot of noise and sits there. It will do this several times spining slowly and then goes to fast spin cycle before cycle ends. Question is when it stops and just sits there and make noise I am not sure what it is doing. I am really starting to wonder about this washing machine. Any ideas?

Check to make sure that your clothes are not piled to one side causing the load to be off-balance. If that does'nt fix it then, It may be that your machine has a balance stabilizer on it that has worked its way loose or even off.
The washer needs to sit on a solid foundation for this to work. When the washer is spinning a load of clothes, push the corner of the washer till the noise or vibration quiets down. When it does quiet down, adjust the leg below to reduce the noise.
Good luck
You could try a hot load with epsom salts....this will clean out the machine....Make sure it is with hot water. It goes slow in between rinse and spin possibly because it is slow draining...clean out the pump. Also as it FILLS make sure the water runs in properly and not just trickle in making a hissing noise. Good luck.

judging by the description i would say more likely the coupler
its a three peice part that sits between the mototr and transmission, kinda like a clutch,
anyway it is easily repaired
and available on appliancepartspro.com
type in your model number.....
look for motor coupler
Unblock the outflow pipe from the machine that goes into the sump under the sink. (have a pot ready for water overflow) This will help drain the water. If the spin cycle is making a screetching sort of noise then it is possible that the carbon brushes will need changing. This affects the spinning if the brushes are worn.
