Oh dear that's the worst thing that can happen during a bios update. the bios chip is probably now useless rendering the laptop useless. You will need a new motherboard I am afraid to say.

SOURCE: Toshiba Satellite a215-s7437 will not boot at all - black screen

Sounds like you have two problems to me.

1) The lamp (CCFL) doesn't always light (which can be usually the lamp or the inverter that drives the lamp) which causes the screen to go dark. You can prove this by shining a strong light on the screen (like a flashlight) and you should see an image faintly.

2) It sounds like the BIOS update didn't go well. Meaning it now refuses to boot and it is in a state we call bricked.

I hate to tell you this, but I think it is time for some professional help. If it is still under warrantee, I would take it in. If not, you might be looking at a bill for $300 or more. Sorry. :(

SOURCE: Toshiba Satellite a215-s7437 will not boot at all - black screen

It sounds like two possible things. One thing may be that your screen is not working anymore. Can you get a monitor and plug it into your port located on the side of your laptop? If your screen pops up on the monitor this tells us your screen is either in need of replacement or a connection may be loose.

If that is not the case......

Another thing is your hard drive may not be initiating. If you feel confident enough I would open the back where the hard drive is located and make sure the hard drive is not loose. Does it give you any beeping sounds when you turn it on? Can you count the number of beeps? This will tell you what the problem is on boot up. Also, is it a black screen with a cursor blinking?

SOURCE: slow bios splash screen

Hi,
I don't fully understand why your BIOS splash screen hangs for 30 secs, but its most likely due to a change in your BIOS settings. You will find a setting in your BIOS to disable the splash screen or to alter other settings to shorten the time that your splash screen is displayed.
Feel free to message me for any further info regarding this.
Best wishes,
Graemevm

Toshiba c55t-a5222 bios update, after reboot no screen

Did it at anytime lose power during updating? If so, motherboard was damaged and needs replaced. Otherwise, try to boot into'Safe Mode with Networking' and if it turns on, immediately re-install your graphics (video) driver. See this link for instructions on booting in to safe mode on a Toshiba: http://forums.toshiba.com/t5/Windows-7-Knowledge-Base/How-To-Start-your-Windows-7-computer-in-Safe-Mode/ta-p/272525

Toshiba sp10 804

You must go the ToshibaUSA and got to Support. Enter your Toshiba data and go to the drivers download section. Here are the BIOS updates, however be careful installing new BIOs as any interruption during the update can render the computer useless. If you do not know what you are doing....don't go there. Better you use the current BIOs than damage the device to the extent it won't work at all thereafter.

During BIOS update toshiba m305-s4910 froze for several hours. I disconnected the battery and connected it, and I got 2 bips and a black screen. the keyboard dose not respond.

For that first you need to open back cover of laptop reconnect RAM memory . Then you need to upgrade bios. For that download bios update from toshiba web sites then upgrade bios again then it will be working fine. Let me know if you need further assistance. Thanks for using FixYa.

I have acer aspire 5500z notebook it has been shuted down during the bios update i want to repair the bios because whenever i turn it on it gave nothing but black screen any idea

Before I explain about the troubleshooting steps to resolve this issue, let me first give you a brief information about the BIOS Updates.

The BIOS Updates or any Firmware Updates are those Updates which will be installed in the Hardware chipsets.

For, example the BIOS Update will be installed in the BIOS Chipset.

It is required to extreme precaution which installing such Firmware Updates.

It is required to keep the Computer ON while performing these Updates.

If these Updates are not installed successfully or if the Computer is turned OFF during the Installation procedure, this might lead to a Hardware failure.

Hence, for such issues it would be better to get the Unit examined at the Authorized Service Center.

In this case, as the Computer was turned OFF while installing the BIOS Update, the issue might be with the BIOS Chipset.

Went to updae the bios on my computor and now nothing will work

try updating the right software of your bios. Wrong software installation will make your PC crash. When this occurs, try rebooting your PC during start-up then writedown the bios version of the motherboard. Surf the website of the manufacturer and download the latest version of the bios software then install it.
