There is no nipple. The fuel line is just pushed through and holds itself tight against the hole in the tank.

This is the return line from the primer bulb, right?

Just replace the line and you should be fine. I think that some of these Ryobi lines are 3/16 OD and 3/32 ID, but I just picked up a Ryobi fuel line kit at Home Depot today, and the black line seems to fit nicely here. (My trimmer still won't start, but at least it doesn't leak gas any more.) Be careful to note which line comes from where on the orimer bulb.

Weedeater blower will not prime

The primer bulb sucks fuel from the tank to the carb. When the carb has enough fuel the remainder is sent back to the tank. When you replaced the fuel line did you use the exact length of line and did you re-install the filter. On some of the trimmers the filter is weighted and holds the line in the fuel. Good luck...Lee

Fuel line positions ?

The longest fuel line, which has the filter attached to it, goes to the brass fitting furthest from the primer bulb. The short fuel line goes directly under the primer bulb. Which hole to put it in doesn't matter if the lines are the same size. Just choose the shortest path for each. However, if the lines are different sizes, then the longest line (smallest in diameter), goes in the smallest hole of the tank.

Ryobi 768r fuel line

Line from tank with the filter on it is the supply line and goes to the carb inlet fitting. This is typically on the "bottom" of the carb (with the tank being up) and will usually have a fitting with barbs or a bulge on it to ensure a tight fit. The other fitting on the carb is the return line and is usually a straight tube fitting with no barbs. That line goes the suction side of the primer bulb. The third line goes from the outlet of the primer bulb to the return barb fitting in the bottom of the tank. Fittings have to be removed from tank to properly install the new hoses on them. Remove retainer ring on outide of tank and push fittings into tank, then shake out of the fill opening. More details on replacing hoses are listed in another post about Repairing Ryobi trimmer.

To leemineres, if hoses are on right and unit still stalls after starting initially you probably need to disassemble carb and clean out using spray carb cleaner. May be sticky needle valve, or partially plugged port or jet.Could also be hole in diaphragm. Gasket and diaphragm kit would be good to add when you take apart, even if diaphragm does not have a hole.
