I have loaded my Craftsman 26HP 54 inch cut it onto a single axle tilting trailer at least 8 or 9 times put the parking brake on and lowered the trailer deck no problems at all. However the parking brake has now started to slip and will not hold the tractor on the sloped trailer deck. Is there an adjustment (or do you have any details) as there is nothing shown in the manual only reference to a service?

Unfortunately, there is no single manual for this. It depends entirely on what crankshaft the OEM requested be used in the engine. You need to find out the diameter of the crankshaft and any threading to it, direction of the threading, etc. From there, a replacement can usually be found pretty easily. That or contact Briggs customer support (number in your owners manual) with the Model, Type and Code numbers off the engine. From this information they can see how the engine was outfitted for that OEM. Horsepower tells them nothing as those ratings and stickers are often replaced by the OEM and often NOT the information Briggs sends out on the engine.

adjust the tension on the idler pully or refer to your manual
SOURCE: New Craftsman Garden Tractor died while working
you might want to check the fuse, located ynder the hood somewhere. also chech that all saftey interlocks are intact and not unplugged.
SOURCE: the belt does not stay on
Although the belt may still look good, it is most likely stretched. The cure is to replace the belt.
