Remove the food and the ice maker from the freezer ( if equiped ) . Remove the rear freezer panel . Using a hair dryer , start in the middle , below the coils , defrosting , until you see the drain hole . Use hot water to help defrost the hole . Once water starts going thru the hole , use a small hose inserted into the hole , and blow thru , to remove any unseen debris in the drain line . Use an ALUMINUM or Copper solid wire , ( a ground wire or fence post tie ) 14-16 guage , with the insulation completely off , and insert one end into the drain hole as far as possible without any force . Wrap the other end about 1 1/2 to 2 turns , around the black rod (defrost heater) , above the hole . When refrig goes into defrost , the heat will transfer from the heater , to the wire , keeping the hole from freezing up again .

Hi,

There is no manual per say for this unit that would show service procedures. I have put together a generic guide to cleaning a defrost drain and put the link at the bottom of this message. Here is a parts breakdown showing what you will have to take apart to get to the drain.

You will have to take out the bottom shelf 25 then the screws holding 28 in and remove it. Then the screws holding the back panel (16) off.

If you have an ice maker in there that will have to come out. After all this you will see the ice and follow the instructions on the link below. I hope this helps.

I have a Kenmore Coldspot Model #69207990 and have the same problem. Water from the freezer drains into the refridgerator onto the shelves and sheets of ice form. A repairman pointed out that the tube leading down from the freezer onto the drain pan was frozen. By pouring hot water down the tube, he reopened this drain line. Problem solved for six months and the drain line froze again. My question is how to stop this drain line from freezing up again.

During the defrost cycle heaters inside the walls of the freezer turn on to melt the frost. The melted frost "water" is supposed to drain into a pan under the fridge where it will evaporate. I think the drain line from the freezer to this pan may be blocked. I'd also check the seal on the freezer door. If it's not sealing well it lets a lot of moisture into the freezer which means more water during the defrost cycle. I'd also recommend checking to make sure the ice maker is not leaking.

if there is water on the top shelves in the fresh food section you may have a drain problem when the freezer defrosts. one other possibility is there is a air leak somewhere could be a bad door seal. when warm air enters it will cause condensation and water will drip on the shelves.I suspect it might be comming from the freezer though. a easy way to check is to remove the back panel in the freezer and check for ice in the drain pan. if there is a blockage use a hair drier to melt the ice and hot water to clear the drain. let me know if this helped you solve your problem Good luck
