SOURCE: maytag side by side slowly getting warmer
I have a Maytag msd2422gr side-by-side that has gradually stopped cooling 2 or 3 times. The solution is cheap and easy: Your unit isn't cooling because the space in which the fan is housed is so full of ice you are getting no cold air circulation. The compressor and everything else is functioning, but the cold that is being produced is blocked by ice. All you need to do is to unplug the unit and entirely unload the freezer. Locate a panel with vent slots on the back wall of the freezer compartment that covers the fan. It is held on by about 4 screws. Lift out the panel and behold the glacier of ice covering the coils. You might want to use a hair dryer or space heater to hasten the melting, but I would warn against trying to chip or break it out because you will probably ruin or puncture an important part. Once all the ice is gone, reassemble and plug it back in. As I recall, it takes a few minutes for the compressor to get going again, but be patient because, if there was ice, that was your problem and if it is now gone, that is your solution. It can't help but work. And from now on, you know to be careful not over-load and block those vent slots in the back of your freezer. SOURCE: Warm fridge, cold freezer
I had the same problem. There was tons of ice build-up in the freezer back wall which prevented the cold air from flowing into the refrigerator section. I removed all the products from the freezer, and melted the ice - even took off the back panel (lots of ice back there). It solved the problem.
SOURCE: Fan running,both cold settings at 4 , freezer 14 degrees C
you need to replace the start components on the compressor, theres a relay that mounts on to the compressor that takes out the start winding after it starts the compressor up. You can also try whats called a three in one to try to start up the unit. Good Luck.
SOURCE: Maytag refrigerator clicking noise and stopped working
either inside fan out of alignment or defrost timer could be bad
SOURCE: I bought a maytag side
Defrost problem: 3 components. Defrost Heater. Timer (circuit board or motorized) & Thermostat.
Remove cover on the inside back wall (usually 6 screws). Note frost pattern. (bottom of evaporator coil)
Put refrigerator into defrost cycle and note the defrost heater come on, or not. (careful heater can glow red hot)... Unplug Frige and test defrost components. Replace bad component... Refrigerator should defrost every 8 hours. when the cycle slows or quits the freezer will freeze over the evaporator coil and no air flow = no cold air...
