After replacing the water filter inour side by side fridge, the icemaker will not work. The water dispencer works fine. What could be causing the problem
This happens on my Sub Zero. I turn the whole fridge off for 30 seconds and this resets the teeny-weeny "brain" on the ice maker. Simple and can't hurt to try.....

First, the water valve at the bottom rear of the refrigerator may have failed. You didn't mention if there is a water dispenser and whether or not this is still working. This valve pumps water to the icemaker and water dispenser when the control unit of the icemaker calls for water. Also, there could be a blockage in the line which brings the water to the icemaker.
The other possibility is that the part of the icemaker controls which calls for water from the valve has failed. If this has happened, it would likely be more cost effective to replace the icemaker unit.
Pour about 1/2 cup of water into the icemaker . If it dumps then water valve is the problem . If not , then icemaker is the problem . Make sure the laser switch on r/side of freezer is on . and the coils at the bottom of fridge are clean ( icemaker must be 5 degrees to operate ).
There is one water valve but two solenoids, one for the icemaker and one for the water dispencer. If power is getting to the solenoid then replace the water valve. No power getting to the solenoid then the switch at the dispencer is bad.
I've had the discolored water before when replacing the filter. It normally means that there was gunk in the water line.
Do you still hear the ice maker trying to draw water in?
If not, the water pump might be burnt out.
If so, see below.
The water lines that feed the dispencer and the ice maker split after a certain point.
It's possible that the line that feeds the ice maker might be clogged. You should be able to get to it by removing a few screws and pulling off the back panel of the fridge. Then you can check them out and remove the clog.
Do you hear it trying to draw water into the ice tray? If so, there might be an internal problem you can't fix yourself. especially since the fridge is dispencing water. Is the arm inside the ice maker pushe down? This is what tells the ice maker to fill and make the ice.
you could have a problem with your dispenser module. a burnt pcb that could lead to all of your problems. switches not working, lights not working, dispenser not working, etc.
check your dispenser module and if you find a burnt part or a burnt PCB, then replace it.
You said, the ice maker slowly stopped working, decreasing in the amount of ice it
made until finally no ice at all. also, water trickles from water dispenser.
The first thing I would ask is when did you last change your water filter in the fridge? Or if it's an older fridge with an inline filter behind the fridge! check the shut off valve for the water line that leads to you ice maker. under the sink or in the basement or where ever the line comes from. I've seen where someone turned the valve a little clockwise unbeknown to the home owner and stopped or slowed the water flow.
The water line should be checked too, for any kinking that may be running behind the fridge or some unseen place!
as the video shows a kinked line may be the culprit. or
if your ice maker is making ice and it is your ice dispencer that is not working along with your water dispencer and when you press the dispencer button the light dims on the door. I would replace the main board. I experienced the same problem and the board fixed it This board is shared by many models and brands of fridges and the transformer goes bad from power surges this board powers the solenoid valves that open for your water
Texas, sounds like your water reservoir is frozen up. Remove your 2 cripser drawers, you will see the reservoir behind them. Take a hair dryer and go over the tank and tubing ends. See if the water starts flowing. I find a lot of frozen water reservoirs on these french door models. They have a insulation kit for them. Catriver.
