Crfsmn DLT3000 w/18.5hp OHV Intek plus mower model 917.275810. When starting motor won't turn over. It turns till meets pressure and then bogs down much like a weak battery condition. Bought new battery and still have problem. In holding the key switch on the starter began to smoke so I replaced the starter. Still have problem. Ted.

SOURCE: My riding mower blows fuses once you turn the key.

Sounds like you are on the right path, maybe some wires on the ignition were replaced backward, and you are sending +12v directly to ground? Does it blow right away?

SOURCE: nothing happens when you turn on the lawn mower

Check your seat, drive safety switches. Can you turn the engine with jumper cables attached to the starter? It won't start, but should turn over, one of your safety switches is not working.

I have craftsman b & s 18.5 ohv, 42 in cut, lt2000, intek plus. Belt keeps stretching

Make sure all pulleys on the mower deck move freely. Also a major issue with that mower is the idler are. This will be the pulley with a large spring attached to it make sure it's pulley isn't worn turns freely and the arm travels back and forth as it should.

I have a craftsman mower with the B&S 21hp Intek OHV motor, it starts fine but when you go to engage the blade or go forward or backward or release the parking brake it will die unless you disengage...

Check the switch on the seat, of all places. There's a safety switch on the seat that will kill the engine if it's not engaged when do anything other than start and run the engine.

If the switch checks out, get back with me.

I have a white mower with a 18 hp intek v-twin briggs & stratton motor. I was cutting the lawn and it loss power all of the sudden, then it died. Now it won't start. I changed the plugs, which looked...

back pressure is from a blocked muffler ( carbon build up)
if it is that old then it could be overheating from grass and dirt build up around the cylinder fins and not cooling properly

Have a Yard Machine riding mower with 21hp Briggs Stratton engine OHV/IC V-Twin. when I turn on key nothing happens. How many switches control the start motor from the ignition and where are they located....

It depends on the model but most riders have the following;
1. Seat switch
2. Brake pedal switch
3. PTO switch
4. Neutral switch (if its a shift model)

All need to be closed in order to start engine.

I have a dyt4000 craftsman riding mower just got

recharge the battery
pull the plug and see if there is any oil in the cylinder
fix the oil leaks
OR
get a new motor 20 hp from e-bay for a good price that just bolts straight in
that way you will have a trouble free mower for the price of a new engine
remember you got it free and that means that is is not a good proposition to repair
