I run bleach through a cycle and that helps for a load or 2, but it's geting worse. Silverware is always the worst, I need to rinse and dry it by hand.I run bleach through a cycle and that helps for a load or 2, but it's geting worse. My new dishwasher makes my glassware smell like fish too. We don't eat fish. I've tried disinfecting the garbage disposal. Seemed to help for a load or two, but thats it. I've tried all brands of detergent, nothing helps. Will try bleach today.

This will
potentially sound odd, but run the 90 degree cycle with 3 dishwasher tablets in
the drum. The smell is bacterial and probably the result of a build up of
residue from biological soap powder (Which is simply bacteria that eat your
stains). Dishwasher tablets are anti-bacterial and will kill the bugs making
the smell
Put about three or four drops of eucalypt oil into your dishwasher and put it on a wash cycle - you don't need to use the drying cycle. Then is should smell beautifully. It's probably just the newness of the machine with seals and parts all giving off the smell. If that doesn't work contact the dealer and get them to find out what it is. After all you paid good money for it.
Good Luck
Hi,
I've been scanning this for awhile as I have this problem on and off. I have
watched what I have been cooking and have come to the conclusion it's to do
with eggs.I always noticed it when we
had eggs ( they are fed with ground up fish) so changed to vegetarianfedchicken eggs and problem got better, I only notice it now if I use a
salad cream or mayonnaise type products with egg added in the ingredients and I
hand wash these away from all other items.I have noticed many comments on hygiene, but if you have this problem
you become a cleaning nut trying to get rid of it. I always clean with vinegar
and bleach and it did not work with this one. Hope this helps
You might want to try adding a jar of "Tang" orange drink to the dishwasher and running it through a wash cycle.
Empty the washer, remove the racks.
Fill the soap dispenser with Tang and put the rest in the bottom of the washer.
Set the washer to run a normal wash cycle and when it is finished it will have cleaned out your dishwasher.
Now depending on how much debris is in the washer, you may have to do it twice.
Worked for me. Good luck.
Regards,
start your dishwasher with no dishes in it.
Let in run until it takes on water and start washing.
Then open the door and pour in 8 oz of white vinegar and let it finish the cycle.
If this does not correct the smell...purchase the AFFRESH product and use that.
I have the SAME problem with our dishwasher. It's disgusting. Between the fishy glasses and the garlicky ice cubes (NO, we don't have garlic in our refrigerator or freezer -- purchased ice doesn't smell), I'm embarrassed to pour our guests a glass of ice water!
