I opened freezer on my Kenmore elite model #596 73503203 and everything was melting, ice had started to turn to water. The refrigerator is only 7 years old, is it worth fixing? The freezer does not seem...

It could need refrigerant...I'd try to possibly get a quote on that.

BUT FIRST,
I'd ensure the coils were cleaned of all dust and dirt...either by vacuum or blow it with compressed air.
I'd also check to make sure the light goes out when the door is closed. Sounds crazy but I had a bad switch once that allowed the bulb to stay on constantly...makes everything warm.

Freezer door opens each time we close refrigerator door

This is an easy one to fix - at the bottom of your unit you have 2 adjustable wheels you can turn to raise or lower the unit. What you need to do is turn those clockwise which will raise the front - what you want is to have it slightly tilted to the back. As a test you can open your door 45 degrees and leave it - it should be able to close on its own.

Frigidaire FRT17G4BW9 doors not staying closed

Adjust the front legs of your refrigerator slightly to raise the refrigerator. and and store items on the freezer door shelves to add weight. This is a problem of pneumatics and a testament to how tight newer refrigerators are. When you close the large refrigerator door it compresses the air in the refrigerator compartment. Both compartments are connected by air passages and thus the pressure change is transferred to the freezer causing the freezer door to pop open.

Raising the front of the refrigerator a tiny bit will help both doors close from the 90 degree point, which is desirable. Adding weight to the shelf will just help the process.

An additional aid in self-closure will be to use vegetable oil on a paper towel to wipe down the hinge side face of both door seals. All these maneuvers should aid in causing the door to stay closed and re-close if it should open slightly. Good Luck

Water in fridge

First, empty freezer and fridge. Unplug and leave door open for at least 3-4 hours. Blow out drain lines with compressed air. It is more likely that the drain line is clogged than frozen; but a clogged drain line will freeze-up quickly.

Right Door is making loud popping noise

After reading these posts, I fixed my refrigerator door in less than 5 minutes. The little black plastic cam on the bottom hinge was loose. To fix it, take the hinge cover off of the top with an 8mm socket, and remove the three 8mm screws holding the top hinge on. Remove the door by lifting up off of the bottom hinge and set it aside. On the bottom hinge is a black plastic cam held on by an 8mm screw. The screw on mine was really loose. Tightening it and putting the door back on made it work like new. You probably don't have a bad cam, just a loose one.

Frost inside freezer door

there is a small electric heater along the door gasket where you see the frost building up, this heater has apparently stopped working. this will also cause the door to pop open due to a poor seal. feel around where the door gasket contacts the refrigerator and it should feel a little warm. if not then a service company can replace those heaters. should not be too expensive.
