Hello. I bought an old A200 at a garage sale and it ran OK but I never put in under a load. I sold it to a guy and he said it stopped under a load. Hobart said it needed a motor. This does not have a capacitor. Can I have this motor rebuilt if I can get it out?? The motor does runs. Thanks a lot. Reg.
Hi
i have a a200 also running weak i wondering what are the problem?
it run pretty good with nothing in it ...as soon i fill it up a 1/2 bowl it getting slower and slower.....can anyone help please
If the motor runs and when under a load the planetary stops its not the motor. You either have a sheared key or broken gear in the transmission.
schrizo,i work for hobart,im a hobart service tech and have worked on these units for years. If the transmissions apart did you check every key on every shaft? It really sounds to me like a broken key.If you want i'll step you thru how to take the motor out but i think your wasting your time. You could also have a worn gear.
If you definitly rule out the motor i tell you what wires to connect to a multimeter to take a resistance reading. If you take these readings it will tell you right off the bat if the motors bad.If you see the stator and it looks black then its most likley bad. Also you said it didnt have a capacitor,If you take the back casing off the cap should be to the right unless you see a square metal component which is the electronic start switch which doesnt need one. When this part goes bad the motor will hum.If you want the resistance readings let me know.If you took the transmission apart you can troubleshoot this mixer.
I didnt forget you, tommorow i will give you the info to check the motor.
I apologize but im unable to answer yours or any others at this time.Ive been hijacked by another user on this site that is dropping my rating.I contacted [email protected] (manager) of this site about restoring my account but has yet to do so.If my request fall on deaf ears maybe if you can email him and explain that its hard to get info on any hobart products and im the only one that is a hobart tech answering questions for FREE!!As soon as this matters resolved i will continue to help people as ive been doing for a year on this site.

Thanks for the reply. Hobart says it is the motor and they broke it down so I am relying on them for being honest. I could not affort to have them rebuild it for over a 1000 dollars. So I am not sure what to do. The tranny is apart so I can only run the motor without a load. It turns on fine then. Like I said I never saw this run under a load. Is there a way to test this motor by removing it and having a electric motor shop check it out?? If so maybe you can guide me to removing it from the casing. Thanks again.
Thank you again. I will look for the key problem first. My problem is that I never experienced this mixer and what it did. I was only told it stopped. I appreciate your input and I hope I can piece this together without getting it wrong. I do have a diagram of the tranny so will attempt it. Reg.
One other thing. I am going on the Hobart shop in Omaha telling him the motor needs replacing.
Great advice. I have replaced caps in other A200's and I am sure this does not have one. I did not take the tranny case apart. The Hobartshop here in town did that and I told them I would take it back as it was to save them any more trouble. I am thinking I should remove all the grease to help me navigate in there. Perhaps this would be a good time to do a resistance test to rule out the motor. I sure appreciate your help. Reg.
Thanks again. I do have a simple meter so with a few words of direction I should be able to get a reading.
I have the same problem with an A200. How do I check the key or transmission?
