I bought a Magnavox digital to analog converter (TB100MW9) and Philips universal remote (PH601S and PH301S). I need to know the code for the converter, I have tried searching by brands and direct code entry for magnavox, and funai. I called Philips and they told me they did not know the code because the converter is too new.

Bought a Magnavox TB100MG9 DTV box from a thrift store. It was just the box without remote/manual/cable/batteries. Having a jumbo universal remote (ER04307J) and a RCA DTV remote (uses the same code as my DirecTV box). Even have a Philips SR3003...but none of the three will control this Magnavox DTV box. Having paid only $2.00 for this box...not going to be too hurt if I can't get it to work. Want to use this box for my 10 year old TV & my RCA box for my analog TV tuner card. Any suggestions...please feel free to say something.

On my philips uni. remote, i tried the quick codeset function. (hold and press codesearch until the red light illuminates, then press CHAN+ about once every second until the channel changes on the unit.) As soon as the channel changes, press MUTE to lock the code in the remote. If the remote does not work afterwards, you most likely hit CHAN+ once or twice after the channel changed on the unit.

I have 2 Magnivox SDTV converter box's the remotes are very generic. One broke and I cant find the other one. I have not been able to watch tv for 2 months. After searching through the internet for programing codes to program a universal remote I finally found the instructions to program a remote. Apparently when I bought the boxes there were INSTRUCTIONS that came with it. Who knew? The address listed above is a pdf format copy of the instructions and it DOES state that the box can be programed to be used with a universal remote, page 7 it clearly says:
To operate this STB with a universal remote, check the instruction manual for remote and find Magnavox brand STB code. If you do not find the code or the code does not work, try to use Sylvania brand STB code instead.

The Phillips 4-device remote does not have the ability to control the Magnavox Digital-to-Analog converter. There is no code that will work. You have two options: 1) Return the remote and get a different remote. 2) Return the converter box and get a different converter box.
I use a Philips SRP2003/27 Universal remote with the code: 1706. First you press the cbl/sat button untill light stays on, the input the code, lastly you hold the power button until it turns the box's light from yellow to green then release. It took me about a 60 seconds for it to program the remote after that I was watching tv.
I have 4 Phillips universal remotes and the only remote that worked for this magnavox converter box is the phillips SRU5107MW and the code is 0759....there's other remotes that work with this particular digital box unit but can remember which ones they were but this Phillips one does work. Hope this helps.
The College Game Day remote sold @ RadioShack, which is a Game Changer Remote, works w/ the Insignia converter box. I used the CBL/Sat code for Insignia which is 098 and all functions are available. $8 on clearance but they have the regular game changer for $12 which I think is the same remote. There is a number on the bottom of the box. I don't know if on different models it has a different number, but the number on mine is 1-800-605-8610 when you call you will have to try to talk to a human. the last time I called they said that I could order a remote for my box, but I have to wait until january until they get more of my models in.

The cheapest fix we could find (after hours of looking for code for "one for all" universal to no avail), was to simply go to walmart and for $8 get the RCA universal remote, it has a special section in the code literature for DTV converter boxes (about 20 different brands including Magnovox)... it worked the first time.. easy to program (hold down dtc button at same time enter 5 digit code with other hand (51563), your're done, Easy). menu functions work as well with menu button, also program info can be gotten with the guide button, then use right arrow to access future program info, etc.. ) Nice unit, seems to be the only one for a decent price that we could find that was an immediate solution. It also allows for 2 other devices such as TV and DVD or VCR or DVR or Satelite units to be controlled from same unit.. i'd get 2 to use in different rooms so you don't have to re-learn a new remote every time you change rooms. also has learning feature, and quick learn if you can just enter the first code, if it doesn't work you simply hit power button to automatically go to next code for your device brand. neat. Not the ultimate but for the price very good.
