Washer works fine, but clothes no longer dry. Clothes are still wet after 60+ minutes. I can feel heat around the machine also, yet the clothes remain wet. The machine is in my motorhome and it has been working great for the last 5-6 years. Thanks, Ron R.

Hi Ron,

Having at one time done warranty service on those machines in a decent size city ( Calgary Ab. Canada ), I saw these almost daily so I know exactly what is preventing the clothes from drying ( 99% sure at least )...even though as you`ve stated "feel heat around the machine". The condensor fan wheel and heater housing are clogged with lint.

**turn off the power or unplug the "combo" from the wall**

If you are capable of removing the top you'll soon notice there is not much elbow room in there to work...even less than home units which are a little easier, but not much. Fortunately for this issue you won't need much. On top, directly behind the timer on the right hand side top of the tub, is a "condensor/heater housing" ( usually made of "white metal" or "pot metal" as some refer to it ) with a blower fan motor fastened to the top. Remove the fan motor wires and then the motor itself from the housing via four hex head screws ( they may be philips heads...that`s not important ) around the perimeter of the fan motor bracket.

This is where "elbow room" may be tight, but with persistence and careful maneuvering you can do it. You may be able to move the tub to the back and left While backing out the fastener's/screws to give you a little more room. Pull the motor assembly up & out ( careful of wires and sharp edges ) and examine the blower wheel and housing. By now it should be obvious of the problem. These unit's because they are so compact are vulnerable to lint build up in the blower wheel and housing hence, the unit will not perform well in the "dry" cycle.

When you have the blower removed I find running hot water from the sink tap ( or anywhere...I don't think it matters, ha ha ! ) over the blower wheel cleans it thoroughly. Cleaning out the condensor housing is a nother matter...by hand is one way to do it. It can be cleaned via a garden house, but be careful not to overfill the tub or flood your place. ( if possible, take the washer right out of the RV/motor home ) Normally it drains when plugged in, but since your's is not plugged in it will have to drain with gravity, that`s why it`s good to remove the entire machine from indoors. Hope that helps move you forward, or better yet solves the problem entirely. Let me know if I can assist you further, I'll watch for your reply here. Thank's for visiting "fixya" for your repair inquiries. Good luck, Macmarkus :)

    Hello again,

All this may be correct, but I should have asked if the clothes are spun out before the dry cycle begins, or are they soaking wet ?

There may be a problem with the motor brushes if they aren`t spun out well.

I`ll watch for your reply Ron.

I have a washer dryer combo DWC LD1013 it stoped drying. My clothes are more wet when put in to dry. The clothes would be extremely hot but all wet. It works 1 cycle and then stops. Please help ????

In order to dry cloths, you need two things, heat source and air flow. Sounds like you have heat but no air flow. If you can, pull unit out and check vent for washer. Look around unit and make sure there is nothing blocking any vents. If you don't see any thing, try drying with vent not installed. I run into a lot of homes with clogged vents inside walls. By drying with no vent installed, it might tell you if you have dryer problem or a home issue. Good Luck

Drying machine not working, the clothes always wet.

If the dryer doesn't heat, but the drum turns, check the thermal fuse(s). The thermal fuse protects the dryer from overheating and helps to prevent fires. If the thermal fuse is blown, it will have to be replaced.

My whirlpool AWZ510E washer dryer - the dryer doesn't seem to be working - it goes through the cycle but the clothes are still as wet as before. I am using the same cycle as I always have which used to...

there are 3 reasons for a dryer not doing the job yet running through the motions. 1st, the heat is not being produced and only cool room temp air is circulating. this can be a burned-out electric element or an over-heat sensor, or in0line safety fuse. ( if gas, can be ignitor or gas valve coils).. It could be that the washer is not ringing (spinning) dry the clothes verywell and there is too much moisture stiil in clothes which would double the dry time from 50-60 minutes to 2 hours. 3rd, could be clogged vent line and the hot moist air cannot leave the dryer so the clothes get hot by the moisture stays.

Thor laundry system won't dry clothes I have a thor no venting washer/dryer combo machine, that has been working fine for years. Suddenly it is not drying clothes and instead, clothes are soaking wet...

I am having the same problem on a WD9900A. The wash cycle works great. Spins fast and clothes are completely rung out. Dryer cycle heats up well. Fluffs and heats cloths. At some point during dry cycle water is injected on clothes and they end up sopping wet; much wetter than after wash. Filter is clear. Outlet pipe clear and functions well. Possible problem with dryer timer? Or washer timing kicking back on?

Dryer will not dry clothes after 60 minutes in the dryer clothes still wet just like they had just come out of the washer.

The reason you are not getting the cloths dry after 60 minutes and are just as wet is airflow or rather the lack thereof.

First verify that you dryer is actually starting, (I know... you're thinking, duh!) but simple things first. Let the dryer run on high heat for about 2 minutes and open the door. See if there's actually heat coming out of the door. If there is, that's a good sign. Did the drum seem to be tumbling? if yes, this also is a good sign.

Next turn the dryer to fluff/no heat and turn it on. Go outside and check the dryer vent (if possible) and see if there is a reasonable amount of airflow coming out. Most likely it will be weak (since your cloths aren't drying.) Now that you have checked that, go inside, disconnect the dryer hose on the back of the dryer. Compare the airflow from the outside vent. If it is considerably stronger than outside, your ducting needs cleaned. If it is about the same and still weak, something is blocking airflow in your dryer.

Here's a decision point. If you feel you don't want to try to fix the dryer yourself, get someone qualified or take it to a qualified maintenance shot for the dryer. If you feel up to the task, FIRST unplug the dryer, then you'll have to disassemble the dryer (can't give you specifics without the model number) and find the clog and remove it. Once the clog is removed (very likely lots of lint and maybe even a sock or two) reassemble the dryer, hook the vent hose back up, plug it in, try to dry your cloths.

Hope that helps

Doesnt seem to be cleaning good. should i not be putting so many clothes in it? should I use more soap? I feel like the clothes barely get wet!

These washers use very little water. (about 2 inches in the bottom of the wash tub) The actual amount used will vary based on the volume of clothes and the type. (snythetic clothes do not absorb much water, but put in a load of cotton towels, for example, and the clothes absorb the water, causing the water level to drop, and the machine will add more water to return the level to the set point, which usually takes a several short fills, over a couple minutes)
To see that the clothes are indeed wet, just pause the machine a few minutes into the cycle. The door will unlock, and you can feel how wet they are. When the cycle completes, these machines spin so much faster (about twice as fast as most top loading machines) that the clothes feel very dry. (thus reduced drying time, and additional energy savings) Because of the lower water usage (about 12 gallons vs. about 45 for a top loader) make sure you only use 1 to 2 (max) tablespoons of HE detergent per cycle, and only 1 teaspoon of fabric softner if you use it. (don't use fabric softner on towels) Using too much addatives will cause odor issues, and possible performance issues.
