The filter housing for the Amana AF12538AEB is in the upper right of the fresh food (refrigerator) compartment of the unit. Pull forward on the tab of the filter cover and bring the cover down. This does not completely detach; it just pivots down. Turn the old filter counter-clockwise until it releases from the filter head. (Alternatively, remove the blue bypass cap and save it.) Wipe up the excess water from the filter cover. Remove the sealing label from the new filter and insert the end of the filter into the filter head. Rotate the filter clockwise until it stops. Snap the filter cover closed. It helps to remove all of the food from nearby when you tilt the filter cover down.
Sounds like water hammer, has the water supply got it's own shut-off valve behind the fridge or in the basement ? Try shutting the valve then open it just a little. Perhaps the water supply was opened fully after installing the new filter.
Is the display flashing when you try and use it or can you hear the dispenser door opening and closing rapidly (clicking or clapping sound)? These are prone to the board going bad and losing the dispenser. Is the "ice" light lit on the dispenser? The touch pad could be bad too. Do you hear the auger motor turning the ice when you press the dispenser? or just the "shhhhhhh" of the water coming out?
If there is ice in the bucket then that is not the problem. Dump it and listen if you hear new ice drop to verify.
There is no such part called an "ice element". Ice maker-yes.. Heating element-yes.. Ice dispenser-yes
Could have a pinched hose or a calcium buildup. If you can't find a kink in the hose then run some vinegar through the system to remove calcium deposits.
Step 2 Soak the new gasket in hot water in the sink to make it pliable.
Step 3 Make sure the refrigerator is level.
Step 4 Find a nut driver that will fit the screws holding the old gasket in place and lay out your tools where you'll be able to reach them.
Step 5 Start at the top outside corner of the door and fold the old gasket back as you partly loosen the screws along half of the top and side. Don't loosen them all the way.
Step 6 Pull the old gasket out.
Step 7 Attach the new gasket by pushing it beneath the metal retainer and tightening the screws as you go.
Step 8 Replace each section the same way.
Step 9 Shut the door and check for gaps. The seal should lie straight and smooth all the way around the door.
Step 10 Notice if there are gaps between the gasket and the frame - this may indicate that the door has warped. (Fix it by loosening the screws and twisting the door a little. You may have to do this a few times before you get the door straight.)
Step 11 Put a flashlight in the freezer pointed toward the opening and shut the door. Turn off the lights. You shouldn't see any light leaking through.
Good day, 3 screws hold the ice maker in place. On some versions the 2 top screws are replaced with clips, but it is self explanatory. The cover is a tight fit, but un clips from the bottom first. You re-install by snapping it in place with the palm of your hand. The wire pulls straight out of the front of the ice maker and then you wiggle the rear off its mounting hole. HOWEVER, What you described is classic of a bad water valve. Especially the overflow issue. I would change the valve first, and if it still has issues then replace the ice maker.
