I have a Toro riding mower which starts without difficult y when the engine is cold and will run until the engine gets hot. Once the engine is hot, the mower will start but immediately shut off. I have not engaged the blade and I am not driving the mower when the problem occurs.
I have checked the fuel level and the fuel line both are fine as gas is reaching the carburetor. The oil levels are fine too I may be all wrong, however my next though was the coil, however I do not know how to test it...

Did you drain the fuel before you put it away? If not then you should drain the fuel and clean the carb. Gas when in lawn mowers and any other small gas engine will turn into a slim in a way and will block the carb. Drain the fuel and clean the carb system will run great when that is done

Your carburetor needs cleaned, you had gas in it that you drained out and replaced with new ? What engine do you have tecumseh, briggs,? The problem is that the gas that sat in the carb all winter glazed it over and gummed it up. Begin by going to any auto parts store, like an aiutozone, and getting a bottle of carb. cleaner. Seafoam is one I use. Add it to your gas, one ounce per gallon of gas. Also, pick up a can of engine starting spray.
Remove the air filter and spray the engine starting spray into the air intake. Pull start the engine and give it additional squirts of engine starting spray until it runs smoothly.

Disassemble carburetor and spray with carb. cleaner. Use a Den Tek Brush,
(http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.asp?pid=165357&catid=1152), to clean the small portals in carb. Make sure that the small screen is free of debris. Reassemble and start.
If this doesn't work, then you will need to buy a carb. kit and replace all the appropriate parts.
