Yes it does sound like it could be a component of the defrost system thats the problem OR the fan in the freezer that circulates cold air into the fresh food compartment

If ya see frost build up on the back wall of the freezer and do indeed hear the fan running it will be a defrost problem

if ya dont hear the fan in the freezer running thats very possibly the problem

Ican not understand what you need.
So I am guessing here
Ice has built up on the evaporator coil stopping air flow to the food section.
Try manually defrosting the fridge. If this works then the auto defrost cycle has failed and you will need to get a technician to help you

the fan is locted in the freezer and it blows up to the ref and it sounds like the fan quit working and needs replace to check it the be for sure take the back panel off and with the ref running test the leads to the motor and make sure you have 110 volts if you do it is a bad motor
