Clothes dirtier after wash than before

I was washing a load of clothes in hot water with bleach. And I found dirt coming through the drum holes onto the clothes after the final rinse. Tried to wash them again, but the clothes just got dirtier. I don't know what to clean or check to fix the problem. All the other functions of the washer seems to be working normally. It's an old Maytag top loader. I never use softener, and even filling the drum with vinegar and leaving it for a week didn't help. I live in Israel where the water is very hard and use a detergent that is supposed to eliminate limescale.

Hello. the hot water and bleach partially cleaned some of the builtup residue in your tub. If you can find a product called CLR [calcium, lime, rust] use a cup of that in your machine with a few old towels. Run your longest and hottest cycle. Repeat if necessary. Joe

My washer keeps spitting out dirt

Try cleaning filter at front of machine , just take it out and rince it under a tap
tip

Eliminate washer Odor

To clean washer add 1 cup of bleach while washer is being filled with hot water and run entire small cycle. DO NOT add clothes. This will help to eliminate odors and any stuck on dirt/ grime on the sides of the drum before washing clothes. I'm not an expert, just an experienced clothes washer for over 30 yrs. ,

My clothes are coming out dirtier than when they went in, some with dirt smudges, some with dirt dots from the holes in the sides of the tub. Is there a screen/filter I can clean?? What's going on?

Try running a load with NO clothes, only water and a liquid detergent. There likely is a chuck of dirt under the agitator that is filtering particles up into your load. One good fill, wash and rinse cycle should do it.

Clothes coming out of washer dirtier than when they went in!

there are two ways of fixing this problem
1. there is a product called CANETAN RINSE it cleans all the nasties out of your machine while you wash
2. an oldey but a goody is vinegar instead of fabric softner as it has a tendensy to gum up machines more often than anything else
instead of using fabric softner try using disinfectant it does less damage to your machine and also the same job as fab soft

(Kenmore wahsher, top load) dirts and threads on washed clothes

You'll need to pull the hoses off the pump and inspect the inlet strainer and pump impeller for debris.

Clothes are dirtier after washing...

The problem with your front load washer is a broken rear bearing. If you remove the rear panel, you will see brown "gunk" all over.
If you want to repair it on your own, order this:

Black, tar-like spots on some clothes after wash

Hi
Its probably coming from the outer drum of your machine. That's what holds the water. Your inner drum, what you see, is full of holes and allows the water to pass through in the drum and wash the clothes. that outer drum gets crud in it which then passes through the holes onto your clothes. the easiest way to get rid of it is to get a product called "affresh" from W mart or the big Hardware chains and follow the directions. Good Luck

My hotpoint aqualtis smells awful. the smell is coming from the drum. we have taken the pump off and although this smelled it was nowere near as bad as what is coming from the drum.

run a large load with no clothes and no soap. use hot water and a full gallon or more of bleach. do an extra rinse to make sure all the bleach is rinsed out before putting clothes in it again.
