The diagnostic procedures as follows:

Total Power Failure When Using a Battery
If an AC adapter is not connected to your computer, the computer's power source is a battery. If the battery indicator flashes amber or is a steady amber, the battery needs to be charged. If the battery is flashing green and amber, the battery may be defective. To troubleshoot this problem, use the following procedure.
1. Turn off the computer and peripherals, and disconnect them from AC power.
2. Reseat each installed battery by removing it and then replacing it.
3. Turn on the computer. Does the green power indicator light up?
Allow one minute for the computer to initialize its components before checking for signs of power.
Yes. Continue to step 4.
No. Use the AC adapter to connect your computer to AC power. If the computer operates normally when using AC power, go to step 7. If the computer does not boot when using the AC adapter, see the previous subsection, "Total Power Failure When Using the AC Adapter."
4. Does the battery indicator flash amber or show a a steady amber light?
Yes. The battery needs to be charged. Go step 5.
No. Go to step 7.
5. Connect the computer to AC power, and fully charge the battery.
For instructions, see the topic titled "Charging the Battery" in the online System User's Guide.
6. As the battery charges, does the green battery indicator light up?
Yes. Go to step 9.
No. Go to step 7.
7. Is the battery indicator flashing green and amber?
Your computer may be in a hot environment. Charging the battery in this condition may affect the life span of the battery.
Yes. Continue to step 8.
No. The problem is resolved.
8. Disconnect the computer from AC power. Is the the battery indicator still flashing amber?
Yes. You may have a defective battery. Continue to step 9.
No. The problem is resolved.
9. Remove the battery, and press its test button. Is the uppermost indicator in the charge gauge of the battery flashing?
Yes. You have a defective battery. Continue to step 9.
No. The problem is resolved.
10. If a spare battery is available, fully charge it, and then install it in the computer.
11. Turn on the computer. Is the power indicator off?
Yes. Your original battery is defective. get a new battery replacement.
No. Call HP for technical assistance.

SOURCE: HP Pavilion dv2120us Notebook PC battery release latch

My battery latch got stuck in the open position after replacing the battery on HP's DV 6300 series. The battery was thus stuck. I used the 'screwdriver' technique but with a rounded end kitchen knife not an actual screwdriver to remove the battery. It is important to push the knife down a little into the groove at the outer long edge of the battery and pry that outer edge up. AFTER DOING THIS THEN GOING TO REPLACE THE BATTERY I REALIZED THE LATCH PROBLEM OCCURRED BECAUSE I HAD PUSHED THE BATTERY LATCH TO THE OPEN POSITION TO REPLACE THE BATTERY. THIS IS WHAT JAMS IT. TO REPLACE THE BATTERY 'DON'T TOUCH THE LATCH AT ALL'. LEAVE THE LATCH IN THE CLOSED POSITION AND REPLACING THE BATTERY WILL SET THE LATCH IN THE CORRECT CLOSED POSITION, READY TO BE SLID TO OPEN POSITION ONLY TO DO THE ACTUAL BATTERY REMOVAL.

SOURCE: HP Pavilion dv6225us laptop battery release latch

is the latched stuck in the open or closed position? if it is in the open position you may be able to wedge a pick or small flathead and gently ease it out. if it is in the locked position attempt to use one of these same tools to move the latch to the open position. hope this was helpful.

Batteries won't work

TI calculators have an annoying habit of dimming the screen when the batteries are changed so that it appears as if the calculator isn't turning on. Turn the calculator on (or at least press the ON key). Press and release the 2ND key. Press and hold the Up-arrow key for a few seconds and see whether the screen becomes legible.

HP Pavilion dm4-1165dx Entertainment Notebook PC
an 8 year old PC today.
this laptop needs service, you jammed the battery lock.
tricky to fix that, its a pure physical fix. seen many do it.
the trick is push battery harder, the slide the lock.
best is to run the PC with not big battery. at all
they short, and shorted batteries are both dangerous and overload the PCs power structures (buses)

so the PC runs ok. now? its unclear as to what the status is above.

find a shop that can remove the main battery.

other failures common this year..
besides main battery *****.
is RTC coin cell *****, replace, it. read page 46.
the book is free, read how to.
next is HDD *****, (all the reset have longer lives, 20years +)

How do i replace the presario v2000 battery? I cannot take the old battery out.

The cover may have been jammed if the laptop was dropped.
1. Use a stiff letter opener and run it along the edges of the battery cover.
2. Move the mechanical lock switch to open
3. Use the stiff letter opener to pry the battery out.
4. The goop you find is probably dried-up coffee, or some energy drink...

Hp 2015dn paper jam light on solid, won;t print

This is a widely known problem with this printer and means the formatter board needs to be replaced. Save yourself the cost and headache of repairing and move on. The problem initially began as a random situation where I would have to turn the printer off and back on to get it to print. This eventually progressed to the problem you all are reporting which is the amber toner and jam lights on. I replaced the formatter board on mine and after one month the problem returned with the new formatter board needing replaced as well.

Of course, HP acts as if they've never heard of the problem. This company's integrity and quality has gone from number 1 to dead last.
