Try to check ur cd driver(written there is that cd is working on windows vista). ur mboard is high-end and most of the driver is compatible to windows vista or higher operating system. you can actually download the driver thru the internet and make sure that the said driver is window xp compatible.

You can download the drivers from ASUS WEB site. your bios driver is likely to be faulty. so download a valid driver then update your bios again. if it doesn't work, intercept all of cables of your PC case and even power cable of your monitor. evolve battery of bios then wait for 15 minutes then connect all of cables and try turning on your pc: 1- with battrey of bios 2- without battery of bios it should work.
Hi Check the BIOS settings . Perhaps embedded audio is disabled Check in Device Manager correct driver installation Check correct auto-detection connection speakers. May need to manually adjust
Try reinstalling after downloading the drivers from this link : Asus Pk5klamse audio drivers, Extract the file to a specific folder and install it from the "Device Manager"

I would try the realtek audio driver instead. there are two different audio drivers for that board. Here is the link: http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us
select the socket 775 then look for the p5kpl board then look in the audio section and select the realtek driver
