click on this above link then select download your driver for windows or MAC. Drivers are same for 3100 series. Let me know if you need further assistance. Thanks for using FixYA.
just put the driver disk in and run it with the printer hooked to your computer with the USB cable.
if you dont have the disk you can download it for free by googling the name of the printer followed by the word driver.
if you don't have a cable, just go to a radio shack or even a wal mart or staples with the name of the printer and computer and get the appropriate cable
I suggest emailing lexmark and telling them u need a disc for a Lexmark X2550 printer. Maybe tell em yours didnt come with one when u bought it and be firm...or you can continue to try and download it from the internet.
i have the link to your driver. you can click on this link or paste it on your browser. due to the cookies attached with it, it may not startto downloan immediately, so click on the cookies bar above your active rowser window to enable download. http://downloads.lexmark.com/perl/downloads/downloads.cgi
cheers!
As i read your problem, it appears that you are having difficulty installing your Canon Laser Printer on the parallel port of a Home PC running windows Vista.
My first piece of advice to you is to verify that all of your cables are connected in accordance with the installation instructions that came with the printer.
Secondly, If you have already installed the printer using the windows default drivers (if available), try updating the drivers by inserting the driver disc that came with the printer into your CD ROM. Then go to Start->Control Panel->Hardware and Sound->Printers. Right click the printer you want to update and click "run as administrator" then click properties. Click advanced, click new driver and follow the directions in the wizard to install the new drivers. the CD Canon often supplies may not have the drivers readily acessable on them, so you may have to back out and run the install program for your specific printer to install the drivers on your hard drive and then locate them in the wizard.
You may also consider downloading and installing the latest drivers for your printer from the Canon website.
The port you want to install the printer on is most likely LPT1 if you're using a parallel cable (normal printer cable), or you may need to create a new TCP/IP port on your computer if you're using a network printer (but by the sounds of your question, you probably are just using the regular printer cable, or maybe a USB cable, which works the same as described above).
Uninstall any Dell driver you have currently installed, the download the updated driver and Patch from the link above. Run the patch, then run the install of the updated driver.
