Shorting fault Hotpoint first edition 1000

My Hotpoint waqshing machine trips the electrics after just filling, have checked the motor and it seems ok what else could it be ??

  • Anonymous Jul 19, 2008

Same problem - it has happened twice before and it's the eating element. If you live in a hard water area the element builds up limescale and this stuffs up the heating element. You will need to replace it and I suggest you put a water softener on your feed to the washing machne. Also, don't overdo the washing powder - many are now concentrate yet pople still put loads in.

Hotpoint Aquarius WDL540 Washer/Dryer - The machine runs a cycle up until a fast spin - then trips the electric.

The issue with the Hotpoint Aquarius WDL540 Washer/Dryer tripping the electricity during the fast spin cycle could be due to several factors. Here are some steps you can take to try to resolve the issue:
  1. Check the drum balance: Make sure the load is evenly balanced in the drum. If the load is unbalanced, it can cause the drum to spin unevenly, which could trip the electricity.
  2. Check the motor: If the motor is not functioning properly, it could cause the machine to trip the electricity during the fast spin cycle.
  3. Check the belt: If the belt is loose or damaged, it could cause the drum to spin unevenly, which could trip the electricity.
  4. Check the suspension: If the suspension is worn or damaged, it could cause the drum to spin unevenly, which could trip the electricity.
  5. Check the wiring: If the wiring is damaged or frayed, it could cause a short circuit, which could trip the electricity.
If you're unable to resolve the issue with the above steps, it's possible that the machine may need to be repaired. In this case, you may want to consider contacting Hotpoint customer support for information on repair options.

Hotpoint washing machine HV8B593 trips RCD after a few secs without start button being pressed

If it trips the RCD then you have an electrical fault. Washing machine can do this once they are a bit old, or if they have had a water leak. The water gets into the electrical equipment and causes a fault that trips the RCD. If you have a circuit without an RCD try that. If it still trips, then the fault is serious and you will need to get it repaired. You can also try putting the washing machine into a warm place for a few days to see if it will dry everything out. Sometimes this will cure a fault if it is due to dampness.

Hotpoint first edition 1000 washer keeps trippin the electrics

Obviously a dead short somewhere. The only way to locate what it is , is with a multimeter. or by trial and error. Disconnecting 1 component at a time until it stops tripping the breaker. Not a very professional way but it works. I would start with the heater element first and then the motor. Make sure any wires that are disconnected are not touching anything and make sure its unplugged when you go taking wires off. Be safe , if you are not sure, get a Tech in.

Why does my washing machine trip the electric

run the machine, after it trips, unplug and carefully touch the motor,it may have a bad capacitor, or dry bearings causing it to draw excessive current,if these 2 things are not it, then look for a bare wire that may be touching case during this part of the cycle, and if you can get an "Amprobe" it reads current and check machines current draw during the start to trip current

Dishwasher fills with water but when it should start washing it sounds like the pump trys to start and trips out, this happens over and over while still filling. any ideas?

Hiya,
without the make and model number its hard to tell exactly what the fault is,
Generally this is caused by a siezed motor, could be something got into the impellar or worn out.
When you say trips out, do you mean electrics trip?
If so, you have probably had a leak in the base of the appliance and shorted the motor.

Hope this helps.

Hotpoint washing machine keeps tripping electric

First unplug your washer. Check the ground on the washer and make sure it isn't loose; this would be a good time to inspect the wiring harness for any problems. Next check the outlet (turn off the electric to that breaker first) make sure all the wires are tight and are making good contact; pay special attention to the neutral (white) wire. If that seems fine, and you are comfortable with going into you breaker panel, turn off that breaker and check the hot (the wire on the breaker) to make sure it isn't loose and then check the neutral wire. If either of these wires seem loose tighten them down....a loose wire will move when a load is put on it and cause the breaker to trip. If all seems normal and washer is still tripping the breaker you might want to replace the breaker.....they can go bad. Good luck!
