Hello, on
the printers control board you have a buton that is called
Resume/Cancel, it is the buton near the copy black and copy color
butons. You can recognize it by the red triangle in a red circle. Press
this buton for at least 10 seconds, if the error is not gone from the
first time press and hold the buton for at least 10 seconds for the
second time. Now the printer will have the ink level counter disabled but do not worrie it will worj just as well.
This can happen if the ink dries out for a long time. Try to power flush the color that doesn't work.
Press the Menu/Set, *, 2, 8, 6 and 4 keys within two seconds. (if you fail to complete the correct key sequence within two seconds, press the Stop key to try again).
press 7 then 6 then 4 then start black copy. This will fill the tubes with ink.
press 7 then 6 then 3 then start black copy. You may use the right arrow to choose the color you want to flush before you press the black copy button.
Press 99 to exit maintenance mode
Press the ink button and do a test print for print quality and see if the color you flushed works. If not, try again.
This is the only way to fix the dried print head. Otherwise you have to replace the print head, in which case, you might as well buy a new printer.
It depends what type of things you are printing. If you are printing text, you should be able to print more pages. If you are printing photos, you are using more ink per page. If you use more of one color, you may also run out quicker. You didn't say if you were running out of ink in the black or the color or both cartridges. The black cartridge is rated at 200 pages and the color cartridge is rated at 150 pages. This is based on printing pages that may differ drastically from what you actually print. Here's a web link that explains this in more detail.
Next time you buy a printer, spend a little more and find a printer that has a larger cartridge (check the number of ml (milliliters) in the cartridge). These printers cost a bit more but you will save on the cost of the ink. Cartridges all cost roughly the same regardless of how much ink they have. You can also look at websites that rate each printer cost per black and white and color pages.
as u have ran out of ink you cant print anymore... you have to replace a new ink cartridge.... this is because when u print something, the colors will get mixed to print the exact color.... even if u are printing only in black, some other colors wil get mixed to produce the black color on the paper... so u need to change the ink cartridge.... u cannot run with a blank filled ink cartridge.... and the selection of your printer is very good...
Did you run a quality test print by pressing ink etc...?
It might be that you have no magenta anymore.
If you can see all the 4 colored blocks on the test sheet, firstly try to copy(!) a picture with pink colors and secondly run a pc print. If there is still no pink and you have it blue or green on the COPY one the scanner needs readjustment (from service personell). If you have trouble with the pc printing, too there might be a defective ink cart holder which leaks and mingles the ink (you need a new ink cart holder then)
Make sure that the carts are FULL, placed well and are secured!
press menu then start bk copy then fourtimes arrow-up-button.
machine will be in maintenance mode. press 7 then 6 then 4 then start bk copy. machine will initialize the carts and refresh ink in tubes and the ph. leave the maintenance mode when finished by pressing 9 then 9.
Run a quality test print.
If you still cant see any bk this might be because of generic ink which had clogged the bk channel. this cant be fixed anymore!
Did you use generic ink? The generic ink has the wrong ink filled in which destroys the ph! brother printers must be run with dye-ink and special additives. Those additives are always missing within the generic carts!
Do use a original brother ink cart, make sure ALL carts are full with ink, placed well and are secured! Run the following procedure afterwards:
press menu then start bk copy then fourtimes arrow up (tel-index). machine will be in maintenance mode. press 7 then 6 then 4 then start bk copy. machine will refresh ink within tubes and ph and do some special cleaning procedures. When finished press 7 then 6 then 3 then start bk copy. machine will run a powerpurge. When finished press 9 then 9 to leave the maintenance mode. Print a quality test print by pressing ink Management etc.
If there is no BK afterwards the ph is defenitly clogged and cant be fixed anymore!
press menu then start bk copy then four times arrow-up (tel. index). machine switches to maintenance mode. press 7 then 6 then 4 then start bk copy. machine will refresh ink in tubes and ph and do some cleaning. after that press 7 then 6 then 3 then start bk copy. machine will do a power purge. after that leave mode by pressing 9 then 9. Run a quality test print by pressing ink etc. If you still cant see any colors the ph has dryed out. If you see some blocks try a manual cleaning (pressing ink shift to cleaning etc.). If the next test print out still is bad the ph is clogged due to generic ink and cant be cleaned anymore. In both way ph needs replacement.
