I switched my dryer door so that it opens from the opposite side. I got the hindges and screws into the door, but I am unable to screw in the screws all the way into the dryer. Any suggestions?

The holes are undersized and the screws are probably self-tapping or sheet metal screws. Try installing a screw into the hole without the hinge in place. That way you may be able to thread the hole easier. Then back the screw out and install it through the hinge. When installing the screw after the hole is threaded turn it backwards slowly until you feel it fall into the thread path then tighten normally. That way you will not start cutting a new thread path or strip the hole too large to hold securely.

I switched my dryer door to opposite side, but screws dont catch.

Sounds like the inside part that holds the threaded screws fell off as you were unscrewing them. You may have to remove panel to attach door or you could try a larger screw that taps into the existing hole but that will not hold as well and could come loose. Sorry I don't know how to remove panel.

Change the door swings

Many refrigerator (especially the really old ones) have universal hindges. Check the top of your fridge if there are nut holes in the opposite side of the door hindge. These holes should corrispond to the same bolt/screw holes used on the hindge side. If so then you can remove the door by first removing the bottom hinge bolts. Have another person hold on the door and remove the top bolts. You only need to remove the bolts that go into the main body of the fridge. Put the door down on a table or flat surface and remove the rest of the hindges. Keep track of the bolts as they may differ from the ones in the fridge. Remove any screw caps/covers from the other side of door and use them to cover the old screw holes. Switch the hindge to the opposite side of the door and secure. Lift the door in place and remount the hindges to the opposite side of the old hindge mounts. Secure and check closure. There should be enough play in the hindge mounts to adjust for a good close. Tighten and cover all screws and openings with the old covers.
Note: If you can't get a good seal then check the gaskets for warping. You may need to replace them if they are too deformed.
* Check your warranty. You may have a tech come out and check everything. Perform annual maintenance and have the gaskets changed out. You can also have them change the door to swing out the other way since they have to remove the door to change the gaskets anyway.

How do I reverse the door on my Whirlpool Duet WED9270XW dryer?

George, try the following-- hope it helps!

Things You'll Need
  • Torx T25 screwdriver
  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Large towel
Instructions
    • 1 Remove the four Torx screws holding the door hinge to the dryer. Lift the door up and pull it away from the dryer to remove it. Lay the door face-down on a large towel to protect it. Screw the four Torx screws back into the holes in the dryer.
    • 2 Remove the two Trox screws holding the door strikeplate onto the dryer's door jamb. Remove the strikeplate and install it on the opposite side of the door jamb.
    • 3 Remove the Phillips screws along the inside of the door. Lift the inner door up and remove it from the outer door. Remove the six Phillips screws along the outer window retainer. Rotate the outer window assembly clockwise until the tabs on the window line up with holes on the frame, and lift the outer window retainer up and off of the window's trim ring.
    • 4 Rotate the outer window itself 180 degrees to rotate the handle to the other side. Replace the outer window retainer and rotate it counter-clockwise to lock it into place. Replace the six Phillips screws.
    • 5 Remove the Torx screws holding the hinge and latch plate in place. Reinstall the hinge on the opposite side of the door. Reinstall the latch plate on the opposite side of the hinge. Slide the inner door back into the outer door and replace the Trox screws.
    • 6 Remove the four Torx screws on the hinge slot on the door jamb. Slide the door into the door jamb and replace the screws

WHY DOES MY NEPTUNE MATAG DRYER MDE5500AYW NOT HEAT ...AND WHERE ARE THE THERMAL SWITCH, HI LIMIT THERMOSTAT, AND HEATING ELEMENT?

All those parts are in the bottom front. TURN off the power! then open the front door and remove the 4 screw's, 2 on the hindges and 2 on the other side. Then you can close the door, and pull from the top edges of the front panel(sometimes you need a thin screw driver to free the front) the front panel will tilt forward and then you can lift it off. You will need a Ohm meter to check those parts for continuity. Make sure you remove the wires from the part you are testing.

Is it possible to reverse door swing on dryer? My daughter has a new Elite front load dryer that swings from left.

REVERSING DOOR SWING
Your dryer is designed so the door swing may be reversed at any time without additional parts. Conversion is accomplished by transferring hinges to the opposite side of the cabinet.
To change the direction of the door opening:
1. Open the dryer door. Remove the four hinge hole plugs from the left side of the door opening. Place nearby for future installation. NOTE: You may need a plastic knife to help pull out the plugs. Be careful not to scratch the paint.

2. Remove the four screws that secure the door hinges to the dryer front panel (see below). NOTE: Remove one screw from each of the two hinges first. Hold the door firmly before removing the last two screws.

3. Rotate the door 180° and reinstall the door hinges to the dryer front panel with the four screws.

4. Install the four hinge hole plugs in the open screw holes on the right side of the door opening.

Hope this helped Tim

How do you change the dryer door from a left to right opening to a right to left opening. Thid is a series 90 kenmore

Open the dryer door. There should be approximately three screws that hold the hinges on there on the right side (as you said yours currently is a left to right opening). Remove the screws that hold the door on. As you hold the dryer door removed from the dryer, turn it counter clockwise so that the handle is now on the opposite side. Lay it on the floor. Now, remove the screw hole covers from the opposite side of the dryer opening ( the left side) (these can be removed with a fingernail or a thin flat tipped screw driver to pry them out). This will expose the screw holes on the opposite (left)side of the dryer. Take the removed covers and place them in the original screw holes on the right side. Now simply reinstall the door hinges in the newly exposed screw holes on the left side. This will only work if your dryer is designed to have both types of openings. Good Luck!

I want to reverse the day on my dryer. How do I

If this is a Kenmore Elite dryer this is possible. Just follow these steps:

1. Remove the dryer door by supporting the door while removing the screws on the hinge.

2. Lay the door face down on a good working surface like a table. Place some towels under the door to protect the surface.

3. Remove the series of screws on the INSIDE of the door and it comes apart in two halves.

4. Remove the hinge from the door and remove the plastic blank from the opposite side of the door.

5. Remove the door front plexiglas and rotate and reinstall so the door handle is on the oposite side of the door.

6. Reinstall door hinge on the opposite side of the door and reinstall plastic blank to cover where the hinge used to be.

7. Reinstall the inner door facing and screw the two halves together.

8. Pop out the small plugs on the door facing, so you can reinstall the door to the dryer. Place the plugs into the orginal screw holes on the opposite side of the door facing.

9. Reinstall door. The door will now open in the opposite direction.

Since the door switch(es) and catch are located on the top and bottom of the door facing (depending on model number) you don't have to worry about removing any switches or door catches.

This is a fairly simple process that shouldn't take you more than 30 minutes to accomplish. If you have any questions along the way, please post back and let me know. I hope this helps.

The paddle has come loose inside my dryer how can I get the lid open to get to the back of the drum

take the 2 screws out of the door and take out the other 2 screws opposite the hindge screws, close the door, now grab the sides where you took the screws out of and pull forward and this will remove the front panel, take out the 2 top 5/16 screws one on each side that go through the metal holders, they are the screws closest top the top lid, remember how the holders hook into the top cover and the catch is in the middle of each piece, now lift the top and spin the drum so the baffle(paddle) is on the top and you can get at the screws to tighten them, the top doesn't lift to far up so you might have to lay down and tighten them from the floor, this is how i've done it ,hope this helps

My neptune dryer has an interior 'fin' that is loose (mde5500ayw)

There are screws holding the fins on the outside of the drum. To get to them:
  • remove door
  • remove screws on the opposite side of the door screws (which would hold the door if it would open to the opposite side)
  • pull the top of the front panel, which was held by those screws outwards
  • remove the front panel. You'll see brackets holding the top of the dryer in place. Remove screws holding those brackets.
  • lift the top.
Good luck
