I had the same problem after replacing the white panel on my Bosch SHE45M02UC with a stainless panel. I got the C6 error code. I called Bosch customer service twice and neither rep was helpful. One guy told me he didn't know what the C6 code meant. He suggested that I call a local appliance repair guy and he would know what the code meant. I replied, you mean to tell me you work for the manufacturer of the dishwasher and don't know what the error code stands for but a local repair guy that doesn't work for Bosch does?
After all this frustration, I took the panels off and tested the dishwasher with no buttons. It worked fine! Turns out, each identical button isn't identical. Each one is labeled A-G. After putting it back together, no more C6 code! On a side note, try reseting the dishwasher. With the dishwasher on and door closed, hold down the cancel/reset buttons for 5 seconds and release. The disher should drain and reset.
Yes same problem...replaced the front facia on our bosch diswasher and if you dont replace the cycle button on the new panel in the same alphebetical order you will get the error code! Bosch customer service had no idea what I was talking about!! I phoned them back and didnt even want my feedback incase another customer needed to know this info!!
Thank you so much for this post!!! I bet the service men can tell you that this c6 code means you need a new control panel and charge you even more.
Thanks, it helped us fix ours after replacing the panel.
I love the internet. And I VERY much appreciate this.
This solved my problem as well - thank you for taking the time to put this information on here. More than Bosch did...SMH!
Yes, I appreciate your info, I did not realize the buttons were different and had different letter designations. Put them in correct location and no more c6 error. Thank you.

Thank you so much for posting these. My husband and I were able to fix our dishwasher after also getting the C6 code. Just a note - Looking at the back of the panel I originally put them left to right in B,C,D,E,F,G order but still got the C6 code. I then reversed them with B starting on the right and that fixed it.
Took mine apart and got the same C6 code when I replaced the control unit. Took it apart again, replaced buttons correctly, and now the unit works fine. The buttons, in particular the buttons on the left, will be way too "jiggly" and don't spring back properly if you have made this error. Each button is worth a penny, but that's one more penny Bosch wants to save, so they make you harvest the old buttons from your cheap plastic garbage fascia.
I can't believe I paid 80 bucks for another chance to have this flimsy disaster of a part break on me. Fool me twice, shame on me.
Could I just say THANK YOU to the folks who posted this fix. Bosch was unhelpful and lied to my face that this was a problem.
This was SO helpful. If you look closely, not only are the buttons labeled, the panel button locations are also labeled, behind the hinge part of where the buttons snap into place. When the buttons are in place, the little letters on the panel are covered and not visible.
We had same problem, replaced the front plate on our Bosch and C6 appeared. We had not noticed that the buttons and placement of them were alphabetical. After putting them in the right order - it worked fine. Thanks for this post!
Yes same problem C6 error...replaced the front facia on our bosch diswasher and if you dont replace the cycle button's off the old panel to the new panel in the same alphebetical order(b,c,d,e,f,g,h) you will get the error code! Bosch customer service had no idea what I was talking about!! I phoned them back and they didnt even want my feedback incase another customer needed to know this info!! Not cool :(
Thanks to you I am able to fix my machine. Thank you for being so helpful when Bosch was not!
Thank you sooooo much !!
You are my HERO. I love the internet.
Thank you - solved my problem as well. I was thinking it was more complicated as other sites said the heater unit was bad. Reordering the buttons (who knew they were in a specific order?) solved the problem. I appreciate it!
Thanks for posting this solution! Would not have known to do this. owe you guys a beer ;)
