The ice maker in my GE side by side is making a clicking sound. It sounds like a relay clicking or something. The fan in the freezer was trying to spin so I gave it some assistance with a screwdriver and now it is running. When you attempt to dispense ice the fan stops and the clicking continues.
You have a bad mother board,i've seen this happen before,go here put your model number in and go to sealed system look at part number 801 this is usually the computer board and it will give you the correct part number, the most common board is wr55x10942p but check it by putting in your full model number,if you open the fridge door, look up on the right side wall where the wall and ceiling meet you should see a tag with model and serial numbers you just need the model number to get the correct parts.if you need any more help write back if i can help you i will good luck.go here look at the picture, look at the left bottom side,if your board doesn't have all 7 black relays you don't have the updated board in your fridge change it out.if you do then it sounds like you have a bad board,if you call the number that's on the model number tag and tell ge your board is defective i've seen them send out the parts to fix machine all they can tell you is no we can't help you out but i think they will send you the parts you need,on some of the older models you had to change out the evap fan motor too or if you didn't it would burn out the new board but they will tell you about that.good luck with your repair and here's a site that tells you about the board.

mine did same thing. What is happening is the Water Line in the freezer door is freezing.
SOLUTION. Leave the freezer door open and turn off the freezer for a night. Be sure to dump out all of your ice cubes too.
In the morning it will work like new. To prevent it from happening again, open the FRIDGE door and use the electronic controls to raise the temperature of the freezer. You had it too cold before...thats why your water line froze in the first place.

Check the ice maker see it is in the right position, maybe you can try pull out the ice maker and clean it and push it back, make sure the position is right.

SOURCE: water dispenser doesn't work on ge hotpoint freezer
Here recently I have run into 2 of these units that do this and have found that the dispenser line is frozen in the freezer door. The way to test this is to remove the kick plate under the doors (It is easiest to open both doors to do this) Disconnect the union in the water line leading to the door by pushing in on the waterline and pulling in on the end of the fitting. When the line is apart, close the doors and push in on the paddle as to fill a cup with water. If you get water out of the line under the door then your line in your door is frozen and you will either need to replace your door or let the unit thaw for 24 hours with the doors open. Cheaper to thaw. If no water comes out under the door when paddle is pressed then you will need to replace the water valve as long as you have 120 volts at the valve when actuated.
