Is it like a haze? The convergence can be the issue too... Before you call in a tech, try to go into the menu and reset everything to default. Next, clean the filter and then if you are willing, take the cover off just below the on set menu buttons. the panel pops off... behind that on the left side is the lamp box, you can check to see if there is a lot of dust, if the set has been off a while, even unscrew the screws and pull the DLP bulb out carefully and inspect it. The only thing you are looking for is burn areas in the lamp. It would be on the top of the bulb and is caused from excessive heat.

My official guess is probably to say the set needs serviced by way of a proper cleaning, and convergence adjustment.

Color shadowing on white lettering

This is called convergence.
If the TV has auto convergence or 'Flash Focus', run it. All projection TVs have customer controls for minor adjustment. Give it a go with the menu or the remote convergence controls.
If not, this is a common adjustment made by a technician on a house call.
If the error is really big, say the colours are curved or you can see clear separate letters and things, you will need the convergence repaired. Get a quote - Usually about $300- $600 in home service.

Blue shadows on my philips projection tv

You have possibly contaminated fluid in your blue picture tube if it has a hazy look.Blacks and whites look bluish and whites have a blue bloom to them. The other problem could be bad convergence amps. This would be double image around letters on the screen.

Blue shadows appear to be behind white objects

TV shows large red spot in middle of tv when dark show are on, you can see it more.  Now blue spots on upper right side too.  Spend way to much on this tv to have these kinds of problems only after 3 yrs.

Green shadows all over the screen

You didn't say how old the set was and how much it's used, but the shadows you're describing sound like a bad green picture tube.

Hope that helps...

IM HAVING A SLIGHT PROBLEM

You need service. Sounds like the convergence is out of adjustment. As the picture is formed by a tri- gun arrangement (one for each colour), if any of them is not correctly aligned, you will see shadows on any sharp line like text, or blurring on a picture. The shadow or blurring will often be one colour i e. red, blue or green.
