We bought the freezer in 06. As soon as the one year warranty went out we began getting this error. At first it happened about three times a year for the first couple years. Then it became more frequent. Now it seems as if it is once a week. I have seen that it is the freezer motor. A couple years ago we tried getting a technician to fix it, but no one worked on LG refrigerators. In 2009, it seems more people do seem to work on them. I am looking for the resolution of the problem which I am hearing could be bad wiring to the fan or the fan itself and the only way to fix it is to replace the fan. Is that a fix or just a band aid? Thanks for any help.

You may have to have a tech look at these voltages and get the correct Main PCB or Freezer Fan Motor for this unit. Awhile back, LG had a problem with "icing-up" in the freezer around the fan blade. They came up with a different Main PCB which lengthened the defrost cycle and adjusted the freezer fan cycling times.

I fixed it. ER FF is "Error Freezer Fan." Once the evaporator fan stops turning for more than 115 seconds, this error message will be displayed. This fridge is poorly designed and is not designed with air gaps or enough air gaps to allow air behind the back panel of the freezer where the fans and condenser coils are located thus causing ice to build up around the fan and it's ability to spin. The evaporator fan helps cirulate the cold air generated by the condenser coils.
The fix is (1) defrost your refrigerator which means you'll loose all your food if you don't have another unit to keep the food in until it's done defrosting or (2) to dismantle the entire freezer by removing all the trays and railing so that you can pull the back panel far enough to get the front end of a hair dryer over the top lip of the panel to melt the ice. My unit had ice build at the top right and left corners behind the panel. I opted for the latter and didn't have to throw any food away.
This is going to be an annual chore if I want to keep this refrigerator. We should all ban together and call for a recall.

I'm no major appliance repairman. However, after reading several posts, I investigated the issue further since I received an ER FF on the front panel. I have a LFX25960SW refrigerator. I pulled the top and bottom baskets out, and was able to take the back panel out from inside. There was a solid block of ice built up around both fans and wires. I took a blow dryer and gradually melted the ice around the fans and wires. Then, as I was able, I pulled the remaining ice chunks off of the wires. I put the thing back together and it cleared the message. My wife says no more LG appliances for us. :)

That means the freezer fan is blocked, you need to order a new High voltage board, the ice has built up enough from not defrosting that it is interfering with the operation of the evaporator fan.

I would replace the evaporator fan, this fan problem is hard to diagnose because the fan will spin but not fast enough to circulate the chilled air thru the freezer and the refrigerator. The minimum cost to repair/replace is around $300.00

it means there is a fault with the units compressor fan you will notice the fridge is running with less noise you will need to call a service man to come fix it good luck
