Knitmaster 360 knitting machine not working properly

Hello. Not used my Knitmaster 360 model for about 20 yrs. Was well stored initially. Now cleaned and oiled as per instruction manual. Casted on first 40 sts but unable to do more than 2 rows as needles dropping stitches, Please give me some suggestions to rectify this problem. Needles seem ok as not been used! using good quality 4 ply wool.
HELP HELP.
Regards+Thanks
Margaret

Hi Margaret. You must also check the spongebar (needle retaining bar) If your machine was stored for so long it could be that the spongebar is flat and not working like it should. It keeps the needles flat on the bed. Do a google search to find more info on the spongebar.
Kind regards
Marie

Hi there well firstly after 20yrs are you sure that you have threaded up all the masts correctly, and then using the correct tension on the dial, are you using a fancy yarn if so try with a standard yarn, you may need to use the weights and also another thought have you got the carriage set for plain knitting.. try using another area of the bed to the left or right then you could eliminate a problem with that area of needles. take a breath start slowly and double check through everything from the cone of yarn all the way through then check the carriage , is it on perfectly, etc, hope this helps a little thanks heidi

Hi, Hope you have solved this[noticed the date was in 2010], but if you have not-try using more weights, especially on either end. This told me years ago & works. Hope this helps, Blessings- Chip

I am looking for the Knitmaster 500 manual

I was looking on a forum recently and found the following link to a manual for a Singer 500 which someone was claiming was the same as a Knitmaster 500:

I don't have experience of the model to check for you, but you could have a look and see if it helps?

Just learning machine knitting on a Knitmaster 360, the manual for cast on, i have tried the way it says a hundred times, and each time the first row knits , when i do the second row, it all knots up, and...

How are you getting on? I'm just learning and I can't even cast on!! My stitches all stay on the front posts that are between the needles and I've no idea how to stop that. Would help if I had an instruction book.
