Gps update I have a nextar navigation system #X3-01, serial #ML0808350053 and I would like to know how to update it.

visit Nextar.com to order your desired maps update and Check the overview description to see which SD card lists your GPS model number and serial number. Order the matching card.

Remove the existing SD card. This is usually found in a thin, rectangular slot on the side of the Nextar GPS.

Insert the SD card with the maps update into the empty SD card slot. Press until it clicks into place.

Reset the unit by pressing the "Reset" or pushing a pin into the "Reset" hole.

Click the "Navigation" button to have the maps automatically update on the GPS.

Unfortunately Nextar does not offer an update for your unit. See units with available updates below.

Check the Nextar website. They did recenlty release a 2009 map update, but if your GPS is not listed as compatible, it's not going to work.

Try that out. Unfortunately, they also charge for their map updates.

I found this on Nextar support site. These units **** lots of problems being reported by many users.


Q: It (GPS) freezes on the "loading" screen. Why?
A: Since the operating system and navigation software are preloaded into the internal flash memory of the GPS, the freezing may either be software or hardware failure. First, press the "Reset" button or push the stylus into the "Reset" hole, to see if the navigation software can load successfully. If the program still does not load, then the software may be corrupted. Also, if the internal memory fails to read or write and the software cannot load properly, it may be caused by hardware failure. In either case, please return the unit for exchange or repair to the retail location from which you purchased it, or contact us for further assistance.
