2 Problems: 1) Unable to get printer to print from desktop; 2) Kodak SW won't install on laptop
1) Printer won't Print:
I have a Kodak Easyshare 5300 AIO connected via USB to an iMac with OSX Leopard 10.5.1
When I try to print, the print queue window flashes a message so quickly it's not readable unless you do it several times - the message flashes "unable to open raster stream" status of print job immediately goes to "Stopped". Have retried several times to print other types of documents and same result.
I have reinstalled the Kodak printer software and restarted the printer and computer several times. Nothing works. Please help.
2) I have a laptop Mac G4 Powerbook with Mac OSX Tiger 10.4.11. When I try to install the 5300 AIO software, the installer says that I must have version OSX 10.4.8 or later to continue install and can't go any further. Please help. With both my computers unable to print, its putting my whole family in a jam to include my kids and their homework.
Thanks
Steve

Re: 2 Problems: 1) Unable to get printer to print from...
Download and install the new software and printer firmware from kodak.com (link below - firmware and software is the same for all the 5000 units). Do not use the CD, and Uninstall all previous versions before installing the new software you download from the site.

we replaced printhead and it wants us to calibrate and replace ink color ink cartridge, and before we put the printhead in , it had 1/2 full color in cartridge
uh, oh yea,
well install your sticks!
your computer may only need one stick because your printer is bluetooth enabled (unless your the sticks say that you need two.)
1) turn on the printer
2) plug the sticks into your computer.
3) with your bluetooth software find the printer.(look for your printer name, or somthing that resembles a shorter version of its name.)
4) connect to the printer and print your photos
I don't know what software you are using but usually their is a "step one, two", or more that the software may have but again I don't know what you use.
1) Remove the Kodak printer and all its software. 2) Disconnect the USB cable from the computer. 3) Reinstall the entire software applications for the printer just as if you were installing it for the first time. 4) When asked to connect the printer .. Use a different USB port .. even if you have to switch something out .. but do this step irregardless.
Now what I want to know is .. 1) Can you print from the computer? 2) Black still "gone" ?

SOFTWARE PROBLEMS:

download the www.kodak.com/go/downloads for the software
hi, you mentioned that your default printer is the xps document printer. if you already have a 5300 printer icon, you can simply right-click on it and left-click on set as default printer to make it your default. but if you still dont have an icon yet, better still, call kodak tech support at 800.421.6699 so they could assist you in generating one
1-Deep clean and calibrate the printhead
2-Try a firmware update @ www.kodak.com/go/downloads
3-Try a removal and reinstall of the printhead and inks
If all this fails, call Kodak Aio support : 1-800-421-6699 (USA)
