On your Sub-Zero 642 Your display will not work unless your refrigerator lights work. 1st. Make sure your light bulbs are good. 2nd. Check your refrigerator door light switch. 3rd. The subzero uses a thermal overload to kill your lights if the door is left open to long. http://www.on-timeappliance.com/subzero.html
Did u check condenser on the top behind the grill? If it's clean, check unit for evaporator freon leaking. Light....Possibly bad bulbs behind that plastic light cover or light switch - one of them located on upper portion of door frame.
if you fridge runs for 6 cycles with out a cycle off .. your vacuum condenser light will come on. you can check the evapator if there is only a frost on the top ar an Ice at the top ...you have a leak and will need to have the evapator replaced...let me know if it helps
You have probably already figured this out, but if the door is left open there is a sensor that will turn the lights off to keep the fridge from overheating. After you close the door and let it sit with the lights off for 15 minutes or so, the sensor will cool and allow the lights back on. If the temperature reading in the window is ok and does not say "service" or "vacuum condenser", then you should have no more trouble.
