I have french door with freezer on the bottom refrigerator in the GE profile line. I have the internal ice cube maker. My ice cubes melt into one big block of ice. I lowered the thermostat to -5 but that made no difference and the fruit and vegetable drawers above it started to freeze. This did not begin to happen until I had the refrigerator for a couple of months.

Sometimes ice melts in ice maker. Water drips down and refreezes.

There is a heater built into the ice maker bottom to help release ice cubes from the machine. Under normal conditions the heater only come on when the ice maker starts to run and then jambs against the frozen cubes. When it stalls and jambs against the frozen ice cubes, the heater comes on to melt the cubes enough. I think you have a defective ice maker and the heater is coming on to much or at the wrong time, Since your temps go back to normal with the ice maker turned off, I am almost sure thats your problem.

Ge refrigerator gts22wcm ice

Hi,

Inspect the ice maker itself, sounds like either you have a jammed cube or your ice maker is not turning on heater to eject ice cubes from mold. If heater is the failure - replace ice maker. If unit is jammed, clear the ice maker mold and allow to cycle to see if damage was done to gear or ice production is restored.

Good Luck

Ice maker will not release ice

If your GE ice maker will not release ice, it could be that the ice maker module is not advancing. The small heating element that preheats the ice cubes before sending them to the ice bin seldom fails. It is usually the thermostat or control module causing the problem. If the mold thermostat on the ice maker will not switch on the heater, check that it is properly cycling. Check that the water inlet valve is opening properly, and if not, then replace it

GE Profile PSS26PSTA SS freezer problem

Forget the warranty - it is only for the compressor and that is usually five years. Did you check for freezer temp - wet cubes indicates too warm up there. Water dispenser lines may be clogged.

If low temps you may have low refrigerant or a defrost mechanism not working - if not working there should be ice buildup on line entering the evaporator in back of compartment.

Our ice maker is making 5-10 cubes per day. Ice

OK, Have a look (if you can) and see if one of the water jets might be broken, or if there might be a defect in the tray. I can't help any further i'm afraid.
