SOURCE: How can I flush my whole coolant system

Preferable to flush as much out as possible to get rid of the old stuff and can be done at home by undoing the heater hose at the fire wall and using the garden hose to force water through until it comes out clean Dont turn hose on full blast as it will spray out over everything build up to it so it doesnt make a mess.Make sure the heater is in the on position so that water comes out the pipe you took the hose off.Either way though it will still be ok to just undo the bottom radiator hose as the majority of it will come out.

SOURCE: intermittant low coolant light. Have

The coolant sensor located in the radiator is either gunked up or faulty if the fluid level stays ok.. The sensor is located on the engine side of the radiator about 3 inches from the top on the right side looking from behind the steering wheel

SOURCE: i did a coolant flush and bleed the system and it overheats

On the top of the radiatorr there is a plastic screw that has a head similar to a Phillips screw, this needs to be removed to bleed the air out of the system and prevent air pockets. Take both the screw and the radiator cap off when filling the system and add your coolant to both holes. Let the car idle while filling with the heater on so the whole system is circulating and watch for the bubbles to come out. Fill the radiator right to the top, replace the two caps and you should be OK.

SOURCE: proper method on coolant system flush

Best way is to buy a flush kit. It is an adaptor that you put in your heater hose and can hook up a garden hose to. You cut the hose and put this device permanently in the line. Remove the thermostat, don't put the new gasket in there yet just put the outlet pipe back on and bolt it down. Run the car when cold with your hose running for about 10 minutes with the radiator drain valve open on the bottom of your radiator and the cap loose, water should come out of the drain valve and the radiator cap. This will flush your engine adequately, why waste money on distilled water, save that for topping off your battery. Turn off your engine continue to allow water from your hose to flow as long as you are seeing any thing other than clear water flow until it flows clear. Turn off the hose, put the cap on the flush port you installed. the port stays under your hood and allows you to flush your engine as needed. Let the water drain through the drain valve. Put in a new thermostat, with a gasket this time. Refill with water and antifreeze as directed in your manual. You should be good to go.

JD Z Trak 777 overheating

Drain the coolant, flush the system, replace the thermostat, and pour in a fresh supply of a 50/50 mix of antifreeze and distilled water. If it still overheats the water pump is suspect.

The cooling fan should run continuously when the A/C is on. If it does then I suggest you drain and flush the cooling system, and replace the thermostat. Fill it with a fresh supply of a 50/50 mix of antifreeze and distilled water.

What type of coolant came in my 2005 chevy aveo? I just need to know whether to add the orange kind or the green.

Your car originally came with DexCool (the red/orange kind).

If you are topping off, use the same.

However, if you are completely draining/flushing the system, you may want to consider switching over to the green Ethylene Glycol type (but don't mix the two). Many folks have reported premature wear/failure of cooling system components with the DexCool.

Also, you can now buy coolant that is compatible with both (it will say so on the label).
