Check capacitors in the power supply. They dry out with heat and most of time they bulge on the tops. Replacing them should fix the problem. The power supply voltage varies causing the problem you describe. Let me know what happens.

Picture goes black with gray fuzzy lines ~ 1/2" apart horizontal.

If your LCD TV or monitor has stopped working, or is displaying one of the following
symptoms, then it's a candidate for some new capacitors
- Flickering screen
- Screen image disappears after several seconds
- Dim screen
- Slow start
- Power LED on, but no picture
- Unusual colors and/or lines
The primary cause of LCD TV and monitor failure is caused by faulty capacitors. You can
examine the capacitors in your LCD TV or monitor and actually see if they are bad.
If they appear bulged on top, then they need to be replaced.
New capacitors will solve a host of problems in LCD monitors and TV's and will extend the life
of your monitor or TV by several years.
Take it to a repair shop.

LG tv is in protection mode, I guess. Can get it to work sometimes for a few hours, but always turns itself off and power light blinks red after that

No one can tell you what will fix the set---I would suspect the power board but it can and could be another board--some tests are needed and if you are not able to do them you either have to start guessing or have a expert examine the set---in the end they will have to guess also but it will be an educated guess.

Problem with picture on HP Plasma TV

hello!
This is known problem with PDP displays. That means: one of X-buffers has bad connection to the PDP(plasma display). Or, in some cases, depend on PDP type, it could be panel itself at fault. You need to open your set carefully and get an access to X-buffers. Usually, at the very bottom of PDP, covered with aluminum heat sinks. By turning set on, while face down, start tapping slightly with isolated handle of medium size screwdriver. Observe, when line(s) vanished. That's where connection(ribbon cable) between PDP and X-buffer is compromised.
In some PDPs, those integrated into panel itself and nothing you can do, except to live with that or replace panel. Hope, you end up just reconnecting ribbons. Anyway, you must have very good technician background to do so.
good luck,
Alex.

White lines across tv screen

Without seeing the lines I can't be sure what your set has wrong, but here are a some possibilities:

If the lines are lines are confined to the top inch or two of the screen and the picture looks otherwise normal, the trouble is bad capacitors in the vertical output circuit. Fixable by replacing the bad parts.

If diagonal lines are across the entire face of the picture tube and the picture looks washed out, the trouble is often a bad capacitor on the 200-volt line to the picture tube. This may be on the main circuit board near the horizontal output transformer, or on the small circuit board plugged onto the end of the picture tube. Again, replacing the bad capacitor can fix this.

If your TV is actually an RCA, someone may have bumped a rear-panel adjustment. On the back of the TV near the bottom right are two small knobs. RCA left these adjustments exposed inside of putting them inside the set like other manufacturers. These sometimes get bumped if someone was behind the set cleaning, or if a pet got back there and hit them with a tail. The top knob adjusts focus, and the bottom knob adjusts something called G2 or screen voltage. If this gets turned up too high it can cause the faded picture and diagonal white lines. Turn the adjustment down until a black screen looks black instead of gray.

A bad picture tube or horizontal output transformer can also cause lines through the picture. If this is the case with your set, it's time for a new TV. The transformer is relatively inexpensive but labor costs aren't, and the repair bill may exceed $200. If the tube is bad, there's no point even considering repair. The tube cost alone exceeds the cost of new TV.

Hopefully your lines are easy and cheap to fix. Good luck, and thanks for using Fixya!

The picture goes to gray after an hour or so. Sound still works, but no picture. Picture starts to go bad...then goes gray. Is this a heat issue? Work good for about one hour...then goes gray.

When it goes gray, means that the T-CON goes bad after warm up or it does not receive the 12vdc feeding it from the main board, or the main board is bad, try running the TV with the back open with small fan blowing in the back, otherwise you can get a can of cold spray for electronics troubleshooting fro Radio Shack or repia shop and try cooling the T-CON bord or the main logic board with it to see will the pictures come back on. Also check the power supply for bad DC filter caps.

It sounds like your saying the gray lines are appearing on your camera and on the tv when you play from the camera but not on your brothers camera. It sounds like your heads are dirty. Get a head cleaner and you should be good to go. Please take a moment to rate my solution fixya.
Thanks and enjoy,
