In the back of the refrigerator there is a water inlet valve. It will have three hoses one coming in, two going out. A 1/4 line for the icemaker and a 5/16" for the water dispenser. If your icemaker is working and you dont have water at the door the valve to the water dispenser is faulty, you need to replace the water inlet valve. If neither icemaker or water dispenser is working chek your water supply line

The water dispenser quit working,i can hear motor/unit turning, would a plugged refrig filter be part of problem?

Hello,

Yes a clogged filter could indeed make the water dispenser not work...it too would affect the icemaker as well, is ice being made?? if yes icemaker is working yet no water being dispensed what ya need to check for is a cracked or broken line and instead of water is leaking out of it somewhere.

You should not hear the noise of a motor unless you are trying to dispense ice. Is that the case your ice dispensor is not working?

There is no water coming out of the water dispenser. I changed the filter and check the water line coming from the pipe, there is water coming thru the water line. when I push the water dispenser lever I...

Well, there is no "motor" for the water dispenser, only a solenoid valve. However, there could still be a problem with the solenoid even if you do hear it when its energized. Hearing it make a noise does not mean its working properly.

My Whirlpool Gold side-by-side refrigerator GS6NVEXSL00 wont give me the ice out the door. It makes ice, but when I press the button on the door nothing happens. Seems like the button went out. HELP!

Does the water dispenser work? Is there a light at the dispenser panel, does it light? Do you hear any noises or motors running when you actuate ice dispenser? You could have a power issue for the dispenser. Some newer whirlpool models have an issue with the wiring leading into the door at bottom being so securley fastened to frame, the lack of movement forces the wires to bend, and in time break, with door usage. If water dispenser works, and you hear no sounds when the ice lever is actuated, then you have a problem with the dispenser panel circuit board. if water works and you hear some sounds when ice lever is actuated, such as a loud popping noise, then you have a bad ice dispenser auger motor, not churning the ice out of the bucket.

Unplug the female connector on tear of refrigerator on the side that feed the dispenser control. With a voltage meter place the 2 probes while some presses the dispense water control. You should get 120 volts there when the dispenser switch. Thanks Sea Breeze

Where is the motor for refrigerator water

When you try the water dispenser you should hear the water inlet valve which is on the back where the water supply comes in. If you do hear it then Your water line could be frozen in the door. You can disconnect the line under the unit before it goes into the door at the bottom hinge. Push the dispenser button and see if it comes out there. If it does leave the door open till it thaws.
If you don't hear the valve working the dispenser switch is bad.

GE refrigerator GSS25JFMCWW not dispensing ice but dispense water

I have the same problem with the same unit. I removed the ice tray and held the open door cut-off switch closed. I then pressed the lever to dispense ice. I hear a humm like power is getting to the motor but the motor is not turning. I hear a click like the selonid is engaging. I'm having to assume at this point it's the motor and I am going to go ahead and order a motor. I've found a motor for the unit at partselect.com for $65.54. Hope this helps you.

GS6SHEXMLoo side by side ice dispenser not working

On advice from the tech I removed acess door. It was covered by frozen moisture.
I removed the motor it was full of water. I verified 120 volts at plug to motor from control
by depressing the door switch and ice dispenser lever at same time. The motor ohms out
but because of amount of water removed from it I am going to replace it and see what happens.

Ge monogram water line

the water dispenser does not dispense water, although i can hear the motor running, but water is reaching the ice maker.
any tips?

You may have a clogged water line or filter something blocking the flow of the water or you may have to replace the filter or a water line – it may have a defective sending unit / pump and it would be wise to check it out with a regular service tech and to also check your owner’s manual for troubleshooting.

Water Dispenser

GodofHops: The motor that you hear on the refrigerator is the water pump that carries the water to your dispenser. If no water is coming from the dispenser. You have to check 3 things: 1. If there's any water. 2. Water filter clogged. 3. Water line for dispenser clogged with minerales carried on water flow. SithPitt
