If the zoom lever is not working then I would recommend buying a new pair without a zooming mechanism. Zoom binoculars are more trouble than they are worth. Sorry!

I suspect the snap key is shot circuited, use contact cleaner spray in the click button often press it to get ride of possible carbon shot circuit between the switch. in some cases the processor will malfunction, and if moisture or water particles gone inside, you must open the cam and clean the motherboard thoroughly with PCB cleaning agent.
if it is s manual box remove the gear lever tower from the top of the box and see what damage was done to the bottom of lever and/or lever pivot pin in the tower. Remember normal gear boxes require a gentle shift to allow the syncro rings to work properly and if you want to do racing changes get yourself a specially built box.
Zoom assy may be defective or problem with the lens. Try moving the zoom lever back and forth a few times. Sometimes, something in the lens will get stuck and it just takes a little repetition to get it "unstuck". Hi, the only reason the zoom lever sticks is dirt. Either dust or some sort of liquid may have spilled on the camera. If you wipe it off, it does not help as the liquid gets into the zoom lever mechanism.It will have to strippd and cleaned.
If you can get to the ribbon cable that the zoom lever is attached to, you can use a multimeter or a continuity tester to see if the lever is actually shorting any traces on the ribbon. the zoom lever acts upon a motor that rotates the iner lens barrel, possible the motor lead is open or the switch under the lever is dirty/faulty.
Before assuming the camera is broken, have a flip through the settings menus to make sure you haven't got the camera into some mode which is incompatible with zoom - for instance, mine won't zoom if it's in SuperMacro mode.
