If you have vista click the start button and in the start search type "hp wireless assistant". It should show up in your list while you type it. Click on it. Once the assistant box shows up, click on "properties". A "settings" box should show up. The main one you need here is "independant controls for installed wireless device". Check that box. The other ones are icons and indicators that you can check at your discretion. If in doubt, check them all. Hit the "apply" button. Then in the upper right hand side of the box hit the button that says "turn on". This should activate the device and if you have a light up indicator on your computer, it should change color or light up. That should do it. Kind of weird how it gets to that point.

I have a Presario MR2305NR with a similar problem, I went so far as to reformat my hard drive and reinstall Windows & drivers. WLAN still disabled! The solution turned out to be so easy:

  1. Toggle wireless button on notebook (that's the one that is supposed to light up blue when it's working). Note how in one position, pop up screen says "HP Wireless Assistant WLAN: Off." In other postion, pop up screen says "HP Wireless Assistant WLAN: Disabled."
  2. Toggle wireless button again so pop up screen says " HP Wireless Assistant WLAN: Off."
  3. Double click on HP Wireless Assistant icon on tray. HP Wireless Assistant screen appears. Button on screen says "Turn On." If button is grayed out so you can't click on it, toggle wireless button again.
  4. Click on the "Turn ON: button. Button now says "Turn Off." Pop up screen now says " HP Wireless Assistant WLAN: On" and it is working again!

I needed to go to device manager and "enable device" there. Turns out the system disabled it due to a conflict.

Usually in device manager you just right click wlan and enable, you can also go into control panel, network connections and enable it there or right click on the icon in sys tray and enable are you sure its disabled and not too weak signal to connect

  • Anonymous Feb 26, 2008

How to change host on mc9090

Wireless Local Area Networks (WLANs) allow mobile computers to communicate wirelessly and send captured data to a host device in real time. Before using the mobile computer on a WLAN, the facility must be set up with the required hardware to run the wireless LAN and the mobile computer must be configured. Refer to the documentation provided with the access points (APs) for instructions on setting up the hardware. To configure the mobile computer, a set of wireless applications provide the tools to configure and test the wireless radio in the mobile computer. The Wireless Application menu on the task tray provides the following wireless applications: • Wireless Status • Wireless Diagnostics • Find WLANs • Manage Profiles • Options • Enable/Disable Radio • Log On/Off Tap the Signal Strength icon to display the Wireless Applications menu

My wlan (function/F10) key doesn't work/light stays amber!!!!! No wireless internet/Internet only works when directly plugged into PC.

Check in device manager for the wireless card. Right click 'my computer' select 'properties' click the hardware tab and device manager, it should be listed as a network device. if it's listed update the drivers, it may just be disabled in windows. If it's listed as installed and working correctly in device manager it may be faulty.
you can also try running 'cmd' to lauch the command prompt and typing "ipconfig /all" this will show all available devices in your computer and their state.

Good luck.

Cannot connect to wireless connection using the router c150brs4

There might be many reasons for this. However I always prefer to begin by simple tiny things. Make sure that the router is advertising itself, there something called SSID (service set identifier). The SSID differentiates one WLAN from another, so all access points and all devices attempting to connect to a specific WLAN must use the same SSID. A device will not be permitted to join the BSS unless it can provide the unique SSID.

to make the long story short , SSID is the method of knowing that there is a wireless coverage in a certain area. sending SSID sometimes is considered unsecure. Therefore you have an option of disabling SSID broadcasting. Therefore I suggest to make sure that SSID broadcasting is enabled on your wireless router and then sarch for your wireless network.

One other thing make sure that your router is using a WI-FI technology (802.11b, 802.11a or 802.11g) that is supported by the wireless Adapter (Card) implemented on your laptop..

thanks.

My m105 works great but will not hold a wireless connection. Please advise....Allan...

Hello

Disable firewall settings to check if it doesn't block connection.

1) Update the WLan driver. In most cases this solves connections issues.
http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/wlan/

2) Go to device manger -> WLan card -> Properties -> Advanced tab and check if the WLan modus 802.11 B/G or N has been set to the same Wlan modules supported by router!

3) Disable the WLan encryption and password on the router and check if you could connect to the router without any security settings. Do this only for testing purposes. If it connects properly, enable the encryption password and try again.

4) Disable WLan power saving! This can be done in Win Power Management. If that doesn't work, perform a system restore, set your computer to how it was the last time you were on the internet.

No wireless connection on acer one notebook

1. Try unplugging the wireless router for 30 seconds and plugging it back in.

or

2. If that does not resolve the issue go to My Network Places, Right Click, Properties ... on the icon that represents the wireless connection, right click, select Disable, once the device is disabled, right click again and Enable.

The second set of instructions are assuming you have Windows XP
