Hy/? mi microphon not working in yahoo messenger wat can a i do?

There are 2 things that may be wrong. One is that you may have different versions of Yahoo Messenger. Make sure you both have installed the latest stable version of Yahoo Messenger 10. If you both have that, then it means she does not have a microphone or the microphone is not connected properly to th computer. Make sure the microphone is in the jack that is color labeled pink.

Here's how to troubleshoot microphone and speaker problems:
1. Click the Messenger menu and select Preferences. The Yahoo! Preferences window will open.
2. Under Category on the left, click Voice & Calls. in version 9 or Video & Voice in version 10.
3. Check the microphone and speaker settings:
- For Yahoo! Messenger 9.0, test your selected speaker by clicking the little Play arrow beside it. Then test your selected microphone by speaking into it, if it's working you'll see an animated level indicator.
- For Yahoo! Messenger 10, test your microphone and speakers by clicking the Open Video and Voice Setup link.
4. Check your system volume by clicking the Speaker icon in the Notification Area of your Windows Taskbar, located at the bottom-right corner of your screen.
- Drag the Volume bar to the top.
Remember: If the little speaker icon below that volume slider has a red circle with a slash through it (no symbol), your sound is muted. Click that speaker once to turn off muting.
- Next, if that didn't work, go to the Mixer, located below the volume bar or access it by double-clicking the Speaker icon in the Taskbar. Make sure that none of the options has been set to mute, and that all levels are set to above 50%.
Your microphone and speakers should now be functioning properly.
Here are some additional things to consider:
- If you're using a headset, make sure that the jacks are plugged in to the correct connectors on your computer and that you haven't accidentally selected a mute switch.
- If you're using a USB headset, make sure your USB connection is functioning properly. Try using another USB device in that connection to test to see if it works.

Make sure ur mic settings are configured properly.

Open Yahoo Messenger Window, goto Actions > Call Setup as seen below:
Now follow the step by step instructions, and select the input and output source from the drop down menu on the setup screen until the microphone and speakers are working properly with this wizard.





Yahoo Audio Prefernces
Go to yahoo messenger main window , Messenger > Preferences > Calling & Audio
In this setup, select the microphone input from the dropdown, and similarly the speaker settings.

Well, if it's working when you record sound, then there might be settings related problem with the skype or yahoo messenger etc... Let's get started with the "skype" open your skype - sign in - click on "tools" select "options", on the left pane of the options windows, click "audio settings" and now on the right pane, check the "microphone" settings and verify it's set to "Realtek High Definition Audio", if it's not, do so now. click "Save". You can set the volume manually by uncheking the "automatically adjust microphone settings" and turn up the volume slider. Do the same with the yahoo messenger, but you can't set this before you log in. In yahoo messenger you need to go to the "preferences" - "Video and Voice" from the "Messenger" menu. Also make sure, that "digital input or output" isn't selected.

There is an issue that the yahoo servers have currently experiencing a problem worldwide which you can't be able to log-in. There solution to that is that you should get the new version of yahoo messenger. It contain the latest bug fix for the software. when in yahoo messenger go to actions then call setup, this will set your microphone up within messenger and let you use it. You may need to try all three types of microphone on the drop down list in messenger to set yours up correctly.
