Dishwasher Worked Fine For Many Months. Really Quiet. Started Making Loud High Pitched Noise When Running. It Still Runs Good And Cleans. But, The Noise Is Very Noticable.

I cleaned out the debris-still loud. My guess is it needs a new motor. Typical Sears/Whirlpool product.
Weve had the same problems it appears the bearing in the drive motor is shot.
Problem is with the main pump motor bearing. Water leaking from the face seal enters the front bearing. After some time, the bearing wears out bringing on the loud noise. The motor is easy to remove but the bearing requires some time to remove. I did not have access to a press so I ground off the bearing an replaced it with a shielded 8mmx22mm type. Grainger p/n 1L001. The part is only $9 compared to over $200 for a replacement motor. It takes some time and disassembly of the dishwasher can be difficult but take your time and be ginger with the parts. The root of the problem seems to be the impeller. It screws onto the motor shaft and seems to work loose after time. Since its tightness compresses the face seal, when it loosens water can seep. No way to lock it in place after tightening. Weak design point.
Motor bearing failed. I had mine for less than 2 years. The whining/grinding noise is likely the motor bearing. When I pulle dth emotor off mine the bearing was completely destroyed.

I have a Kenmore Ultra Wash Quiet Guard 3 and it is doing the same thing. The noise is laud when running water. We cannot find a reason why. Can somebody help.

I have the same dishwasher and it was making a very loud grinding type noise for the longest time. Tonight it seemed to fail almost completely. The dishwasher fills and drains but will not wash. When it kicks into wash cycle, I get a buzzing noise from underneath. Thoughts?

My dishwasher only is a little over three years old and started making a high pitched whine during the wash cycle. The dishwasher worked fine otherwise. I really didn't expect to have a problem so soson with this high end expensive dishwasher.
I pulled it out and examined and cleaned the main pump and the grinder assemblies with no success. A motor bearing appears to be the most likely culprit at this point; I don't know if the the bearings are replaceable or I have to buy a new motor.

I have a Kenmore Dishwasher Ultra Wash Quiet Guard 4 Model 16032. It is making a noise when it is in the wash cycle. It does not make the noise when pumping out. I have tried cleaning the choppers and that did not help.
It could be the motor bearing. The machine was purchased March 2006. I only got 2.5 yrs before a major repair.

I have the same problem with Model 665.1703, Installed June, 2006. Gets fairly heavy use, noise abates slightly after the machine is warm. Very noticeable. Began about a week after a glass bowl broke during the wash cycle.
